Hi Y'all.
I'm looking for advice/opinions on tyres for 1100gs.
I bought the bike with Metzlers, wore them out, and fitted the set got with the bike, which were used, and as it turns out they didn't last very long, the rear had an 'over-inflation bulge'...
So just a few weeks ago I ditched them n favour of a more off road tyre. I got a set of Shinko, tractor tyres...
Off road they are awesome, I can chew up expanses of pea gravel around dams, firebreaks and 4wd tracks, I can go anywhere.
I like to go fishn, and exploring places, especially if there's a sign saying no entry, for example stirling dam. I've dropped the old girl a few times on the gravel on the old tyres (and already on the new..) But stationary thankfully.
Trouble is, these tyres are about a 70/30 off road, and I need the opposite, 70/30 on road.
I have to get to where I wanna be by road, and I'm a bit scared of these tractor tyres, they have very soft wall, and cornering at speed feel like they are going to roll off the rims, me no likey.
They vibrate on the road, like a tractor...
So I've looked online, and I see much the same choices, scrambler enduro tyres like tractor tyres that I have, or smooth/round with deep grooves, like the Metzler.
Like I said, I had the Metzlers, but they were on road only, they were killers on gravel, but tyre pressure was likely mitigating factor.
I went around Lake Navarino last weekend, following 4wd tracks, going round the mud holes, and riding up through bush tracks.
This is where I wanna be, but I also spend a good deal of time on rd, going from back of boddington to collie etc, but I don't want to be limited to tarmac either.
Suggestions appreciated.
I might come down on Sunday, but my bike's a pig, Not exactly cafe racer, leave all that to the harley blokes, sitting n cafe's...
