My diagnosis - bike starts & free revs but when engaged in gear, bike has absolutely no power to go!
its a 2 cylinder 2 carb bike (not a BMW but please don't hang me for it).
my brains hurt already.
what i've done - clean carbs throughly. new diaphragh and gaskets. adjusted floats to stop fuel overflow. on a J tube, fuel flows to 2 mm above the float bowl level.
all ideas and suggestions welcome! thanks guys.
Help with getting bike going....
Re: Help with getting bike going....
Sounds a lot like fuel starvation. Re-check the mains on the carbs, and make sure the fuel taps and lines are allowing a good flow of fuel. Sure there's plenty of fuel in the tank? It's been done!!!!!
BTW, the brakes aren't dragging are they?

Thanks Bill!
It's a lot of help - to get things going. Now I know I got to sort out the fuel pet cock! There are 2 tubes that attach to the petcock, one fuel, the other vacuum pipe from the carbs to draw the fuel down the fuel pipe. Hence if the problem lies in fuel starvation, the washer / rubber gasket on the pet cock needs to be replaced.
No, the brakes aren't dragging. Yes the tank has been drained and fresh fuel added.
PS - Price or a R100GS here is RM50k to RM55k! No panniers, no nothing. http://www.emotors.com.my/client_listing3.php?id=38

Re: Help with getting bike going....
It sounds like a problem I had with the R600.
The problem was with the electrical condenser. It would idle fine, but would "die" when I tried to increase revs.
I hope this is helpful, and not confusing

Re: Help with getting bike going....
Simple test . turn it on reserve and see if it still dose it. reserve is a direct imput i think . anyway if it runs fine then replace the vacume line after making sure its not blocked in the tank. if that don't work then look at the fuel pump.
Re: Help with getting bike going....
Thanks for the inputs guys! It was the petcock.
1 - it was leaking fuel down the vacuum line.
2 - running the bike with out the vacuum line proved to be insufficient -> fuel starvation.
3 - problem waiting for the O-rings for the pet cock to come.
Thats sorted out now.
