Tyre pressures & handlebars for the R65 mono.

Hi all, I'm a new user with a new 1985 R65 mono, and very nice it is too. Query though, the plate on the bike says to use 2.2 and 2.5 bar front/rear respectively, but the Haynes quotes BMW as saying 1.9 and 1.9. When I bought it it had the 1.9/1.9 setup in the Bridgestones - what do you use/recommend?
PS where would be the best place to sourec some higher 'bars for it? Only, say, 2 or 3 inches higher/further back than the standards.

Don't go by either, tyre technology has changed in the intervening years. Best go to the tyre manufacturers website and get the recommended pressures, the better ones (Metzeler etc) will do this.
On my Mono I use 34psi (2.34bar) front, and 38psi (2.62bar) rear, adding 2psi for a long run. Try to use psi as it's easier to read on the gauge.
The 1.9bar is WAAAY too low for safe running.
Try Munich's for a S/H handlebar, or maybe BarBacks so you can use your existing.

Thanks for that Bill, it's what I felt on the ride back from Perth (to Bunbury where I live). I'll chase up those bar tips and let y'all know how I get on!

Thanks again Bill/airhead, the tyre pressures are muuuuch better at 36ish. 'Bar risers are a no-go though, due to the intersting way the ignition key panel mount is tack-welded to the bolts that go through the top clamp all the way to underneath the lower clamp. Thus meaning I can't use new bolts. I'll either have to source maybe some R80RT bars (if they have the same arrangement) or have the bolts on mine have extra thread welded on (don't know how I feel about this safety-wise) and have a custom spacer installed. Or, as I'm doing, just grow my body into more of the right shape for the longer rides! Pls see also my new post re my neutral cut-out dramas.
Ta, dadadali.
