changing light globes on a GSA 1200

Post by bill9117 »

Blown Light globe on my 1200GSA.
I have just got back from a ride down South and have a blown globe in the big light.( the one thats on all the time) Before I start undoing every thing to get to it I thought a note on the forum might save me time and effort in its replacement. Do you undo the front and get to the globe this way or is there a trick getting it from the back.

No tools required. No tricks either.

Been years since I replaced mine but IIRC, remove rubber boot, squeeze sides of wire clip thingy, globe should be loose to now pull out.

They seem to blow often...i now buy them in packets of 2. The 'user manual' (if you got one with the bike) explains it well enough. Turn the handle bar to give better access from the rear. If you are attending the monthly meeting there should be somebody to point you in the right direction. Remeber not to touch the new globe (salts in the body degrade the performance of the globe).

Thanks guys. Worked it out :P
The cover over the back needs to be rotated to the left. This then comes off exposing the globe which has a set of contacts that are removed by pulling it off the globe. A clip arrangement is then released and the globe pulls out. The globe is replaced with the horizontal bit with the bit sticking up going to the top when being inserted. The clips re applied and the wiring harness clipped back on and the cover re attached rotating it to the right to firmly lock in place.
The globe is a H7.
