Eight riders headed south east from Cats this morning to Quindanning via the Darling Scarp.
Swampy (with Baby Blue), Dinga+1, Bozo, Al, German Paul, Drew and Karl followed the red K mounted Wightman.
All went well until Baby Blue spat the spline and had Swampy stuck in gear. (He carries spine protection not spline protection).
Abandoned by his mates, Swampy limped home, repaired the gear shifter, and headed directly to Quindanning.
Canning Road, Gardiner Road and Ness Drive were very pleasant with most of the traffic being sports cars going the other way.
At Jarrahdale we turned up Kingsbury Drive then along SW Highway and Del Park Road.
Dwellingup was full of bikes with both cafes choccas.
On to where Wightman auspiciously stopped at the Lower Hotham Road. "Go this way" said Bozo "its Beemer Dave's favourite road". "There will be a sign at each intersection showing the way to Quindanning".
The group headed down Lower Hotham road with its sweeping bends, good surface and no traffic.
Four of the group arrived at Quindanning and were joined by Swampy. The ride leader, Al and Dinga were missing. "They will be here soon" said Bozo. Half an hour later he went to check and discovered the three riders had had an 70 km round trip to Williams and were now only a few kilometres from Quindanning.
The queues for a meal were 10 deep so the First Five decided to head home.
Soon we were in the messy traffic that you get on Albany Highway. Vehicles that sit on 100 km per hour until 500 metres before passing lanes and then accelerate to 120 clicks to stop you passing. It is almost like they resent motorcycles.
The First Five made it safely home.
Thanks to Wightman for leading the ride and to the Casey Chambers fan who nicked the Quindanning turn off sign. In all the group took three different routes to get to Quindanning then split in two.
Still a great ride and a pleasure to be with Baby Blue for at least part of its first outing.

"I love a sunburnt country, a land of sweeping plains.
Of rugged mountain ranges, of droughts and flooding rains.
I love her far horizons, I love her jeweled sea.
Her beauty and her terror, the wide brown land for me."

A quick glance at the Touratech 2014/15 Companero only has pages 384 to pages 431 dedicated to gifts for Baby Blue.
In these 47 pages are many options for the new baby.
Stainless steel seems the most popular metal this season.
A splash guard (page 423) might help avoid you getting wet from baby activity involving fluids.

E-Baby might be the best way for equipping you as a new parent.
I suspect that club members would be happy to throw a shower of gravel or mud

BMWMCCWA riders entering into the pub carpark from different directions was a bit of an eye opener and a conversation point, it's ok though, one of our directionally dyslexic group went to Williams as well.
Re: How many ways to get to Quindanning?
Yeah, the road to Williams was very interesting........Thanks to the eternal shepherd for looking out for us....And Swampy's drop off almost beats Wes getting lost three times within the first ten minutes of the start of a run....
Bully's and Mike's Chinese whispers, off-road extravaganza sounded exciting. Burgers were very tasty at Quindanning. Thanks to German Paul for thinking of the idea. The trusty K did 700kms and not a suggestion of an oil leak from the rear main seal, so job well and truly successful. Al, Dinga, Bruce and I finally got going again at about 2.30, counterclockwise (Darkan Dave's second most popular road) to Dwellingup and thence to Ravenswood, where we enveloped another ice cold Kilkenny before heading off. Thanks for the good company (when it was there)
For those of you that went straight home, after Catalanos, to change the newspaper at the bottom of the wife's canary's cage, as Lara Bingle once famously said "Where the bloody hell were you?"
