De-progressive ride

Post by Bozo »

Generally most of the group that start out from Cats for a ride on Sunday morning will finish the ride together on the return to the outskirts of the Metropolitan Area.

Recently the rides Bozo has been involved with end out with patronage as low as a suburban bus, at six on a Sunday morning.

Bill plus Trish, Brian/5, Jack, German Paul and Bozo cruised through the northern suburbs to Wanneroo Road to the packed coastal hamlet of Guilderton.

Interesting to have a 173 horsepower K1300 R muscle bike mixed in with a 650 cc airhead, but the group travelled in a tight group all the way up the coast.

Guilderton was full of Australia Day celebrants, families and boats. Paul spotted a former BMW Club member who had a dozen old bikes and a new wife. After a quick Lavazza break, Jack decided to head straight home.

The rest of the group headed on a big bypass to Gin Gin via Orange Springs ending up just below Reagans Ford. A few oversized vehicles on the Brand Highway were given short shrift by the group before a short stop at the Gin Gin Waterwheel Park.

Brian/5 did not want the temptation of pies at Bindoon and set his GPS/ILS/VASI to glide down the hill direct to Perth.

The group, now down to three meandered down Mooliabeenee Road and Crest Hill Road to Bindoon where we bumped into Desert Tip Robin.

After the twisties in the Chittering Valley two riders peeled off at Bullsbrook for fuel.

An identical situation to last week where by the time the Swan Valley was reached only one rider remained.

Amazing traffic for an Aus Day weekend and you get the odd surprise as you always do when you head out on the road:
- jam packed Guilderton that was doing its best imitation of the South Perth foreshore
- a couple of emus only a few metres from the road picking through oats stubble
- running into two old (but not elderly) club members on the road
- the devastation of bushfires in sandplain country
- high wide load pilots energetically encouraging you to pass on double white lines (what's the law Bry?)

Good to get out and stretch the bikes legs and wear off a few sprues.

Bozo if you want a captive ride group the trick is to get them completely lost and then they can't escape
