You need to be a 'seasoned' rider who likes lotsa sand...
I bumped into the guys doing the recon for this last year near Alice (Bowe and I doing the Simpson). The two riders (3 started...one of their Kabooms went 'Kaboom') were surprised at the amount of sand they had to go thru at the WA end (the start). Also, the Simpson Desert is an option...you can take the soft option and go around but you still have to carry your own gear across the Desert.

As Jamie pointed out; if you want to travel the outback (and we (WA) have more of it than anyone) then consider Desert Raid and head off with one of the splinter groups afterwards.

Get back to work!!!
