Cookies 4.25 day Gascoyne adventure

Post by Cookie »

Hello follow adventurers, anyone interested in joining me for the trip - try to catch up at Auto Classic opening on Saturday 8th or Breakfast on Sunday 9th for finer detail.

Plan at present - make our way to Moora Wednesday 19th evening - probably caravan park for the night. Thursday 20th make our way to Murchison or Wooleen station. Friday 21st make our way across to Kennedy Ranges, camp the night. Saturday 21st short run into Gascoyne races, slip away early afternoon for Murchison?? camp the night, ready for the run home Sunday.

Mixture of sealed and dirt roads
Regards

Cookie check your dates.... Sat is the 8th

You might be giving members a bum steer for the AC BBQ.
I will probably be a starter for the Northern adventure but will probably bypass the horse race

I'm keen to do the Gascoyne run this year. It's possible to do Perth to Grenough River on the Murchison Gascoyne Road day 1, this is a great camping spot from which Murchison Road House is a short ride. I'm not that keen on the caravan park idea.
For those who want to do the ride but are not interested in the horse races, its worth calling into the race club and using it as an overnight camping venue. You don't have to watch the racing but the atmosphere is unique (great country characters) and the facilities are good. Nice to have a mid way point where you can enjoy a hot shower and a good meal. The race club is located +/-7 km out of Gascoyne J and bush camping around the club is the norm.
I think last year we did an early Thursday start camped on the side of the Murchison Gascoyne Road and arrived at Gascoyne Friday afternoon.

Traveling the direct route (just over 1/2 Unsealed Road) it's a day and half and around 955km Perth-Binddon-Moora-Mullewa-Murchison-Gascoyne Junction
Black Top is around 1061km Perth-Geraldton-Carnarvon-Gascoyne Junction.
