Seven Sunday riders and two pillions left Catalano's for the little known tourist attraction of "Poodle Rock".
Fastrhino and Pru, GS Bill and Trish, DFS, Dinga, Kim, Terri-Anne and Bozo travelled via Bickley Valley, Mundaring Weir, the Lakes, Yarra Road and Talbot West Road to reach Qualen West Road.
Arriving at "Poodle Rock' the underwhelmed group mumbled and muttered about being sold a pup. "It looks nothing like a poodle - if anything it looks like Scooby Doo, Dinosaur Doo or Snoopy" stated one disgruntled member of the group. Bozo rechecked the Avon Tourist Bureau site only to find that the rock formation was simply described as "balancing boulders".
From Qualen West Road the group headed to Bakers Hill via York and Spencers Brook. The 60 km/hour deviation on Old Spencers Brook Road near Clackline is still in place due to safety concerns about a bridge on the main road.
A pie stop at Bakers Hill was followed by the winding Coates and Government Roads to return to Mundaring.
Great to see DFS and for him to demonstrate his dummy exhaust fuel storage on the 650 GS.
Despite the hub bub over the deceptive conduct by the ride leader, in raising expectations about seeing a poodle shaped monolith or something to rival Hanging Rock or the Devils Marbles, all seemed to enjoy the ride.

Re: Nit Pick at Poodle Rock
Bozo, sorry to hear your group were underwhelmed .
The Sunday dirt ride group in contrast were overwhelmed. Having negotiated about 2 hours of slipping and sliding on the ball bearing gravel thru a maze of dirt tracks, the group that consisted of leader Koos and Bill on their DR650's and Al on his WC GSA 1200 while negotiating the corrugations and dust came around a bend to be confronted by a small car parked in the middle of the track. As we approached this vehicle a completely naked rather attractive girl came dashing out from the bush at the side of the road opened her car door and lept in. Koos being the ride leader was first on the scene slowing down to see what's going on. The girl curled herself up in the front seat trying to hide. Koos wasn't sure if there was anyone else in the car but decided she didn't need any help and kept going with Al following. I was a couple of hundred metre s behind and also noticed her curled up in the front, but all the dust made it hard to get a good view. Other excitement on the ride was when I was negotiating a muddy section and applied a bit of throttle only to cover Al who unbeknown to me was following a bit close and collected my rooster tail of mud.
Great eventful ride

Underwhelmed BMW Group more interested in the Alpaca across the road than "Poodle Rock"

Re: Nit Pick at Poodle Rock
Definitely not a poodle! I'd be deflated too.
