Low cloud said Kim...it will lift. The forecast was only cloudy said Bill...only a slight chance of rain. The experts had spoken convincing six riders to ascend the scarp.
Prof Dist, BillB, Kim, JP, Swampy and Bozo rode off expecting azure skies and green fields.
It was misty by the time we reached Lesmurdie with Mizzle through the Bickley Valley. The Mizzle abated at Mundaring Weir but the group were slowed with a third of the road set aside for the WA Marathon Club King of the Mountain event. We passed a hundred runners near the end of their 16 kilometre climb to Fred Jacoby Park. Prof Dist bailed just after Mundaring and the five riders continued on through Gidgiegannup to Mayo Road. Entering Woorooloo we hit a cycling event and ran into the back of a motorcycle ride group in Coates Road.
At Bakers Hill there was a mess of Mazdas on their way to the York Car Show. One of the drivers said "I know how you feel having a Honda amongst BMWs...one of our guys brought a Porsche along instead of his MX5.
Taking the Clackline- Toodyay Road we headed towards an ominous black cloud through occasional Drizzle. Toodyay was full of motorcyclists but we continued on to Julimar Road where the Drizzle turned to rain.
Swampy had an uncomfortable journey as he had taken his badge off to avoid it dropping off like the previous week. Putting it in his pocket, he failed to secure the pin so that every time he braked, accelerated and turned he received a little prick. By the time we got to Bindoon he had had a full course of acupuncture.
The stop at Bindoon included conversations with other BMW riders...one was sporting a BMW Motorcycle Club Cap which he explained was given free to him when he purchased his bike from Auto Classic. Another said he was a member of our club from the 1980's and knew John Wightman. Swampy and Kim traded insults including when Swampy mentioned "staying at home alone through the week and howling all day" only to correct himself saying he was talking about dogs.
Back on the road we were pushed onto the gravel shoulder by one of the widest over size loads I have seen before taking Blue Plains Road back to the Chittering Valley. The sun came out at last giving us a brief highlight to a ride through all sorts of weather.
Thanks to Swampy carrying out Tail End Charlie duties and for provoking much of the humour during our stop in Bindoon.

Yes Bozo I must agree with JP, It was good of you to lead another ride so soon after returning from Kalbarri.
I guess what convinced you to lead us was the thought that I may have lead everyone astray again left to my own devices if you hadn't
I also must thank you for comparing Harry Honda with the Porshe at Bakers Hill among'st all those MX5's and BMW's. That was really cool of you Thank You
I think everyone should purchase a Name Tag including Mr. Bilby as placing them in your pocket and being continously pricked by the damn thing sure cured my Lumbago and a few other ailments as well this morning. So there is a worthwhile reason for investing in an oblong broach after all Bill:lol:
I can get a good rate for anyone interested

"I love a sunburnt country, a land of sweeping plains.
Of rugged mountain ranges, of droughts and flooding rains.
I love her far horizons, I love her jeweled sea.
Her beauty and her terror, the wide brown land for me."

Tom
The only appendage I was referring to was Swampy's badge.
I would describe Swampy as a little gem who does not get too precious about himself....humour is never far away when Swampy starts chatting.
So many things are now linked with Swampy...emus, badges, lost jackets, armourall, ginger beer, roundels, rugby, seat height, potato pies, wreath flowers, rain, gravel roads, #41 and cycling that he has become a shiny legend in the club.

Re: Mist, Mizzle, Drizzle and Rain
Great Pics Tom, Your right you had a helluva trip home, Bet you were glad you were in a truck?
And yes I'm not afraid to admit that gravel roads faze me a fair bit.............The mere thought of the extent of severe gravel rash on your body if your bike decides to have a sleep terrifies me more then a little
Now mate my next question is: When's the Cray going in the pot and how many Club Members can you fit in your house?
PS: And Bozo, Relax I wasn't really serious mate
..........Now back to cleaning my bike AGAIN
