Riding Postie Bikes for Prostate Cancer Research
I am gearing up to undertake one of the biggest riding challenges I have faced yet, riding a postie bike 4700kms from Hobart to Cairns with 11 friends, Brian/5 and Hermann E from WA, 6 from Victoria and 3 from Tassie.
We are doing this to raise awareness and funds for a serious men’s’ health issue – prostate cancer. The beneficiaries are The Australian Prostate Cancer Centre and the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia.
We are paying our own way so all money donated goes to the two beneficiaries.
We leave Hobart on Friday 19th of August and arrive in Cairns on 9th September 2016. We will be stopping regularly to talk to community groups about men’s health issues and raising funds along the way.
If you would like to sponsor me you can do it by going to our donor site and in the request box mention you are sponsoring me. (see the link below)

Updated Prostate Postie Rides
Link to the Prostate Posties Ride Album: https://goo.gl/photos/dzJEwVbQkLUFxF956
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
FYI: I've just discovered that Google have finally stopped Picasa uploads... I don't really have a photo solution now other than paying to store photos. Fingers crossed existing photos will still appear in the forum.
'Google Photos' does give the option to link to an Album, hence the above link.
RIP
Picasa was: Organized; allowed captions and comments; allowed embedding single photos in a website, didn't populate your photos with other people's rubbish.
Options
Google+ : Sucks, messy and chaotic, doesn't allow embedding single photos in a website.
Facebook: Sucks, messy and chaotic, doesn't allow embedding single photos in a website.
Google Photos - sucks, messy and chaotic, doesn't allow embedding single photos in a website.
Google Drive - massive amount of work involved to migrate photo embed code in the forum/website...
Microsoft SkyDrive?
Flickr?
Oh well, 'permanency' on the internet was but a dream...

Re: Riding Postie Bikes for Prostate Cancer Research
Brian H, Hermann E and I fly out this morning to Hobart and the big adventure commences on Friday.
The idea of a fund raising ride was conceived around 12 months ago by McFarkle & McGinn, no here we are about to set off with 12 postie bikes, 1 car, 2 trucks and 1 land cruiser with trailer on a 4700km journey across 4 states and the Bass Straight.
Keep an eye out for regular updates on Facebook.

Hello fellow riders
We made it to Wodonga today, trip going well, bikes behaving and extremly reliable.
Pass the word around and ask your friends and family to check out the facebook page and make a donation to this great cause, if everyone donates as little as $1 we will have a fantastic outcome.

Well done to club members Cookie, Brian and Herman, our adventuring postmen crossing the continent from bottom to top Not overlooking the talents of our old club member McFarkle
Herman got a great write-up in the Mandurah Mail during the week. Thanks Goldie for the tip-off.

Re: Riding Postie Bikes for Prostate Cancer Research
Hello fellow riders:
Arrived home let's yesterday, following an amazing trip, collectively over 60,000 km covered without any issues
We did replace 3clutches, 2 rear tyres and 4 headlight globes - none of which were caused by the ride, just routine maintenance for second hand machines.
A couple of the bikes are still available for purchase, balance already spoken for and car was sold yesterday.
The Honda CT110 Postie bikes are a credit to Honda, bullet proof motor wrapped with a simple frame.
Fund raising ongoing until the end of October, check out Posties for Prostate facebook page for detail and photos.
I should be at breakfast on Sunday:)

Well done. I am sure there were more than a few challenges with weather, traffic and the frustration of travelling on thin tyres with small motors.
Looked like a well organised trip that will make a big impact.
Congratulations.
