A reminder to members that the bi-monthly formal club meeting will be held at the Vic Park hotel this Monday the 12 th of Sept. We would like to encourage members to attend these meetings so your committee can get feedback and direction as to what members want and suggestions for progressing our club.
We have a new committee who will be trying to organise activities and events through the year, that will allow members to participate and enjoy the company of fellow motorcyclists who own , ride or appreciate the BMW motorbikes.
As your new VP I will be encouraging members to be active contributors by participating and being involved in the club so that our club remains a strong happy cohesive group.
We have 200 + members but there appears that only about 30-40 that seem to be actively involved in being part of our club. I hope to encourage those that aren't, to become involved as a great club is only as strong as its active membership.
We have a number of ongoing activities for members during the year, with social get togethers riding our bikes, adventure trips organised utilising the great abilities of our BMW bikes, going to interesting places, conveying technical knowledge learning and just having the company of a great group of friends who enjoy riding motorbikes.
Our Sunday morning get togethers at Catalanos in Vic Park, where members and their partners get together socially for breakfast and usually a ride out into the countryside seem to be one of our most attended activities, so if you are an inactive member maybe come to a Sunday breakfast and get to know some of your fellow club members.
Attending monthly meetings and putting your voice forward regarding ideas and suggestions would also be a start for those that haven't been involved with the club . The monthly meeting provides a formal platform for membership to talk to the committee so it can direct the club forward with the collective memberships IMPUT.
Hopefully we will see a decent turnup on Monday the 12 th

Re: Monthly meeting this coming Monday
Meeting tomorrow night at the Vic Park hotel 7.30 for 8pm
The Pres Jono has come down with a bad "Flu Lurgy" so the VP will be chairing the meeting on the night. Hopefully we will have a informative , positive, constructive meeting that members will feel they have enjoyed and benefited from attending.
Members are encouraged to use this forum to direct the committee to come up with positive ideas and suggestions that we can implement for greater member benefits.
We will have some great raffle prizes on offer. So these and a positive contribution to attending and making our club strong are great incentives to turn up.
Remember a strong club is only as strong as its members. Let's see some of our 156 paid up members making a positive effort for our club by attending our meeting
( membership numbers have apparently dropped from the last year with less new members and more not renewing membership)

Re: Monthly meeting this coming Monday
Our club bi-monthly formal meeting last night attracted 20 members
Some important announcements were conveyed to members:
The next bi- monthly informal social membership meeting on the 2nd Monday of the month will have a change of venue. It was previously held at Spadelles Cafe, but they have downsized to a much smaller premises so the committee have found a new venue at "Mean Machine" at 33 Rudloc St Morely. They have a great venue and food and drink can be purchased. There is plenty of parking. We can book a area for our club function. We look forward to a greater number of our membership coming along to these meetings.
The club will be having a club ride to Gabyon Station on the up-coming long weekend of the 24-26 Sept. Pres Jono has visited this place a number of times and gives it rave reviews. It is out in the Murchison region between Mullewa and Yalgoo with about 30 km of good surface gravel to get into the station. The wildflower display will still be happening and the ride up can be just about all black top for road bikes or for the GS riders that want some gravel backroad, there is plenty of the dusty stuff also. For those that haven't been to Coalseam national park near Mingenew, this is a great diversion on the way.At the station on the Sat night we hope to have a sheep on the spit BBQ. On the following Sunday we will have a ride organised for GS bikes to get out onto some of the backtracks and visit some of the interesting places in the region. Road bikes and those that have driven cars can also spend the day touring. We will return to Perth on the Monday.
The club has been supporting Cookies "postie bike ride to raise funds for prostrate cancer research" We raised over $350+ at the Xmas in August function at an auction we had, we donated the money from the raffle raised at our previous Aug meeting which was $150 or so and the committee have decided to donate money raised at the Beverly Xmas party we had a few years ago which was about $450 also. So the club members along with personal contributions has shown great generosity towards this good cause. Well done!
The camp cookoff is still happening. We will be having it at the Dryandra nature reserve campground . Details will be posted soon but this cookoff is going to be a unrestricted free for all meal preparation. Judging will take into account how the contestant goes about coming up with the most simple creative meal prepared using food and equipment carried on their bike.
These were some of the events announced from the committee, the meeting members gave an array of ride reports with much humour and information about their journeys. Jamie took the cake with his story of his campsite at a rail stop platform out in the middle of nowhere and the Indian Pacific train pulling up while he was wandering around almost naked having just got out of his sleeping bag. Frightening stuff for the train guests Jamie
We had a raffle with 3 great prizes with useful items worth over $100 up for the taking
Anyway these meetings are great get togethers and I am sure other like minded BMW bike owners and riders would gain and enjoy the camaraderie associated from attending these meetings
