AS OF TODAY 6 BMWMCCWA MEMBERS HAVE REGISTERED FOR THE COOKOFF PARTICIPATION
Members should take note that support for this event unless we get a last minute rush of participants signing up has been very poor. Members have been aware that the event was going to be held for some time now as I have announced plans to hold it at a number of past monthly club meetings and various get togethers. It has been billed as a bring your partner fun camping extravaganza with some cooking skills being demonstrated with a country M/C ride thrown in with prize sponsors.
Let's face it 6 or so participants with their partners is not a great turnup out of a club of close to 200.These events require quite a bit of organising by committee members for the benefit of club members.
We may have to keep this in mind for future events your committee tries to organise for members. Supporting these events keeps the club strong and relevant and it would be nice to see more involvement.

Re: Camp cook-off 2016-weekend..12-13 Nov
Can I say, I understand the work involved to organise such events.
But, The saying K.I.S.S needs to be applied as All the rules for this event I gave up reading as to what categories and points involved are for.
Example of K.I.S.S. The Desert Raid. ( I'm meeting so & so for a drink on this date at this location ) with 2 years notice.
You mentioned that this has been organised for some time.
Can I point out that the date for the Cook Off was only posted on Oct 23rd.
Do you really think 3 weeks notice is enough time.
If you remember correctly another event was cancelled for you to hold the Cook Off on that date.
The other event that was cancelled was organised on Oct 4th for the same weekend that you put the Cook Off on.
While I'm talking about dates, What are the dates for the Xmas Party? As the way I see it we are running out of time for those dates as well with only 5 weekends to go before Xmas. As we were giving our work Xmas party dates yesterday. I'm sure plenty of people also have there Xmas dates.
It's very hard to attend events when the members are only giving 3 weeks notice.

It's Sat 12th we have now got 16 confirmed registrations that will get from 1-5 points for registering.Plus JP and Denise who will be helping me with the judging....
Those that still intend on coming down can still register but won't get any points for the registration and must make up points in other point scoring categories.
Hope to see OB maybe registering down at the campsite
Packing the ute andshortly off for the drive down with all the prizes and gear needed for what will be a great event for those attending..........

Just got back from the Cook off. A very good weekend. Very well organised and a great camp site. I don't think I'll ever be a chef though.
We had a great ride down and a great ride home.
Cheers Robbo.

Re: Camp cook-off 2016-weekend..12-13 Nov
Just returned home, we had a great run out to Congellin yesterday, some of the dirt roads were a little slippery otherwise all good. Cook off went well, again many very impressive dishes - it is amazing, what can come out off panniers.
Big effort by Bill and his helpers, venue and weather was perfect.
The run home today via Clackline for morning tea with friends and trouble free run into suburbia.

Re: Camp cook-off 2016-weekend..12-13 Nov
The 2016 CCO ended up with a reasonable turnup of about 30 members and friends.
I got to the camp site at about 1030hrs to comadeare the most suitable real estate for the event. A few tourists went past checking out the club banner I put between 2 trees and thought better of lobbing into our area. So I went about putting up camp before the 1200hrs start time was due. Jono and Prof Disturbed were first to arrive then Chris G,Eddy, John W, Cookie , Jack, Jamie and Robbo with Jean. Bob and 2 new BMW 800 GSA Riders Lee and Veronica arriving followed by Jeff and Sandra on Jeffs GS. Cookies girls Eddys wife Bobs wife and JP and Denise arrived by car. Tom and Marion arrived on Toms GSA not happy with the soft pea gravel following a small tank slapper after having to divert back to a Williams to buy a new wok after forgetting to pack the one at home. Cooking started at 1700 with a mad frenzy of bribes by most of the contestants offering the 3 judges anything from glasses of wine , beers, sampling of the food and in Jamie's case a nice hat for extreme sun protection. The hat offering was too good to pass as mine just wasn't up to the same amount of sun protection as the offering so I am sorry to say I was corrupted by Jamie's extreme pressure. The other judges brought me back into line and proceeded to tick off the K.I.S.S. POINTS SYSTEM that was carefully worked out to make the competition competitive as described earlier in these threads. Most of the contestants were intelligent enough to understand the points criteria and handled their point scoring with the competition requirements in mind and this resulted in scores being fairly close.Nev and Terry-Anne and a bunch of their German friends who had recently arrived a few days earlier from Germany arrived well after the 1700hrs of the start the cooking time also with not indicating on the ride register they were coming and all arriving in cars. Nev was given short shift when he tried to enter the competition. The judges had the difficult task of rating the meals with points being carefully considered when it came to innovation , simplicity, wow factor , tidiness, healthy and what may be a normal preparation after a long day in the saddle.
Following much unbiased and bribe free IMPUT between the 3 judges Jono won first prize with Eddy and Tom and Marion winning 3rd. Jamie was moaning about wanting his hat back but got over it. Robbo won the chook bucket prize with his can of dog food he was trying to pass off as human food. He won the other hat Jamie kindly donated for the event. Everyone else received a nice key ring donated by Motorrad garage.
Tom just phoned me with some bad news. His back tyre kept losing air even after putting that tyre gunk stuff in it and it continually showing the dreaded red triangle after continually pumping it up. He decided to ring BMW roadside service and basically after them losing his request and other mishaps only arrived home at 1730 hrs spending most of the day camped at the side of Albany Hwy with a mobile phone showing a dying battery
charge. Tom reckons Albany Hwy is jinkst for him with his previous trip resulting in his bike catching on fire.Tom thinks the tyre lining has separated as he can't see any holes.
Anyway apart from Toms saga everyone seemed to really enjoy the event as we hoped they would and well done to the efforts all went to to help make the humour , the rides and the camaraderie memorable. Also thanks for our sponsors for their kind donations of bike service, bike related items and dental health services.
