Dakar riders are genuine supermen

Struck by lightning!
Quick trip to hospital!
Back racing

The featured image with the twister running up the side of the track is awesome!

The Red Bull sponsored rider stating that the privateers are the real heroes.
Sponsored riders just turn up after day's ride, hand their machines over to mechanics and go to a comfy bed.

Privateers race, fix own bikes, sleep in a tent!!!!!!!!!!

My Republic of Chad explanation faltered when I posted the response as the spell check altered a R. nowhere near a Chad.

I give up.

Gents, and I use the term advisedly, if I told you the reason for your quandary I'd have to arrange a contract or two.

I may elect to enlighten you one evening around a camp fire. On a related issue, I have concocted a quiz I'm sure will entertain and educate over the course of an evening around the fire, details on the first night. All that is required is an over-active imagination! Alcohol may also help.

Really? Seventh in the 450 Main at Atlanta not good enough for you Wilks?

He rode a a blinder in Heat One, second behind #1 by 2.5 seconds at the finish. Probably his best race of the year so far.

Something to think about; his average lap time for the Main was quicker than the winners average and that includes an off!

He's currently running tenth in the 2017 standings. Not bad for a thirty-four year old eh?

He spends a lot of time training with VR46 nowadays, perhaps we'll see a veterans championship soon.
