GS and TS Safari Lift Off

Post by Bozo »

Dropped into Auto Classic this morning to experience the start of the Safari.

A healthy roll up of participants included Wes, Ross, Guy, Sleepy Paul and Red Emperor Eddy.

It was a surprise to see the Safari Ready sticker on the side of Guy's airhead, the Black Bomber.

Good to see another airhead....a R90S from South Australia on the Safari.

and BillB http://share.findmespot.com/shared/face ... k1gOMvpb9M were already down the road.

This Rider overcooked the Corner on the first day.

Lots of Riders wanting lots of pies and coffees...a goldmine for the local economy.

Puncture repair at end of day two. Easily plugged and completed the rest of Safari without incident.

Steady as she goes...

The water was quite deep...in this case it was up to his handlebars. About 5 bikes had to 'dewatered' after taking a gutsfull of water.

Image
Downed timber on the track which had to be circumnavigated by going around.

James Bond (007) crossing a local bridge...this track was/is part of the Munda Biddi long distance cycling route stretching from Perth to Albany (or Albany to Perth???).

Good advice...but only if you heed it.

Image
This Rider chose to walk it first...you are gunna get wet feet anyway. Some of the crossings were a little tricky. Several bikes were drowned over the course of the event.

Keep left...it's not as deep there!

A not so successful water crossing.

My Office...sometimes I had to wait long periods to get footage cause the riders were spread so far apart. Oh well, nice backdrop anyway.

From here some of us are heading to Nannup to attend the Adventure Rider Magazine Western Congregation held this weekend.
Back to work Slackers.

I'm beginning to like your office, digger :P

The ride looked like a blast... and hope that not too many riders were carted off :|

Great learning experience . Some great tracks and scenery.

For my oil head when checking river crossing water depth
if feet in boots stay dry you can ride across.
if wet walk it across

You know that I would respond to your query on Munda Biddi.

It should be described as a trail from Mundaring to Albany

I was involved in the early stages of the development of the track when Albany was always regarded as the ultimate destination.

The first stage was from Mundaring to Collie and opened in 2004.
