Bakery Run a success

A big turnout this morning. Robin and Chris reported on their 695 km loop to Nannup that doubled the kilometres on the Urban GS. BJ took off like a shot out of a gun. Robin and Prof Dist took off to explore unsealed roads. Ted had a little battery problem.

BillB, GS Bill+ Trish, German Paul, Ross, Robbie, Peter, Swampy, Wes and Bozo took off in the search for golden puff pastry. Heading up past the Lesmurdie BP and through to Pickering Brook they took Patterson Road and Walnut Road to get to Mundaring Weir Road. Lots of cyclists coming in the other direction but none to worry the group. Through Mundaring straight across to Toodyay Road the only issue was a short stretch of smooth gravel from road reconstruction. Ducking down Reen Road we reached Berry Road and Toodyay Road before turning off onto Bailup Road and Burma Road. At Wundowie we waved to the men's shed before reaching Bakers Hill via Coates Road.

Like the F1 we dropped off the last two riders (Wes and Swampy) before a high speed run down Clackline Road to Toodyay. Market Day in Toodyay meant long queues at the Bakery but soon Dorper, Potato and Steak Pies were being consumed along with Rolls and Pasties with the group revelling in the menu choice. Again like the F1 we dropped Ross and Robbie with the remainder heading home via Julimar Road and the Chittering Valley.

Very pleasant to be out. The recent warm weather meant there were a few insects and bees. Lots of other bikes around.

Thanks to Swampy for being Tail End Charlie to Bakers Hill.

The memories of a $6 bottle of water last week are slowly evaporating but the mystery of the 4WD on the lateritic boulders remains unsolved.
