We decided to head north from Perth....primarily to escape the rain band that hit Perth on the day of departure. We still got rained on but by the afternoon the showers cleared and has been dry ever since.

On the second night, we camped at Mt Augustus. Ol’ mate Redneck was walking back to his tentsite and stood on a snake...a very big snake. He identified it as a Black Headed Python, a non venomous species. He spent the rest of the night parading it around as a trophy.

This bloke was a ‘bushy’ and knew his wildlife...I think I would have just jumped 5 metres in the air and started running, screaming like a little girl.

We left Mt Augustus and headed north on the Pigandy-Dooley Downs Road, a great road with lots of varying terrain.
This was one of the many dry creek bed crossings we had to do.

Lunch break on the Ashburton-Meekatharra Road....when we eventually got back onto the blacktop, we discovered we were on a closed road (legacy from heavy rain earlier in the year). The road was closed because a bridge had been washed away...that would explain why we never saw a bridge.
We have camped at Tom Price tonight (Tuesday) cause one of the bikes needed a small engineering job done. We leave tomorrow for ?????
Waiting for the beer to take effect to decide which way we travel.
