Kangaroo Whisperer

Post by Bozo »

Despite the bad weather and the forecast of storms there was a solid turn out for a breezy seat on Albany Highway this morning. Good to see Koos in town and Cookie on his RT.

Seven riders left on the Sunday ride being Nev, Cookie, Wes, Rob, Drew, Ross and Bozo. Nev and Cookie peeled off just past the airport and only five continued on in weather that normally has kangaroos and emus wandering about in daylight. Fortunately one of our group had a high frequency Kangaroo Whistler fitted. The frequency of the whistle is above 880 hertz but when struck by a large honey carrying insect it becomes B Flat of 466 hertz see https://ptolemy.berkeley.edu/eecs20/week8/scale.html. This is a biologically attractive frequency for kangaroos so the Kangaroo Whistler becomes a Kangaroo Whisperer.

The presence of so many kangaroos caused the ride leader to slow down to the point where one participant said it was more like sheep on a LAMS ride. This was fortunate as the group was tailed by a police car who had to turn off because of the kangaroo hazard attracted by Wes' Flat Bee contaminated equipment.

A quick trip down a very quiet O'Brien Road and a brief stop at the Brock Monument.

The group took Berry Road and Reserve Road for a stop at the Gidgegannup Bakery. Wes continued on in the hope that a combination of mist and speed would clear his whistle. The rest headed home via Bunning Road.

Not the best weather but good to get out and have a bit of humour.

Not sure who was tail end Charlie as my rear vision mirror was full of fur.

Of rugged mountain ranges, of droughts and flooding rains.
I love her far horizons, I love her jeweled sea.
Her beauty and her terror, the wide brown land for me."
