Sunday Salami Slalom

Post by Bozo »

A solid turnout this morning including a visit from Koos. The Match Box Art was at the submit your work phase.

8 riders and a pillion took advantage of the cool weather to do the Goomalling-Meckering-Quellington loop. Wes, Wightman, Bill+Trish, Ray, Peter, Ted, Bozo and Swampy took the Repatriation Road-Patterson Road route through the Bickley Valley after a police escort out of town.

By Mundaring Weir Road, flashing red lights warned Bozo of a deflating rear tyre and at a stop at Mount Helena Wightman located the offending nail.

The nail defied removal attempts with pliers and the "Wightman Technique" of levering out with a small screwdriver was successful. After reaming, a glue covered string was successfully inserted and sealed the leak. Several inflation techniques were demonstrated before Bozo took off with what should have been a fully inflated tyre.

Bailup Road and Toodyay Road got us to Toodyay where Wes left the group. An enjoyable run through the slalom of cresting corners on the Toodyay-Goomalling Road. The Go Café was shut so the group reassembled on the Goomalling Meckering Road for another slalom after Wightman finished work with a 19mm spanner. Harvesting was underway and it seems Peter was very observant in noting the Canola harvesting was two stage process with head cutting and winrowing before seed extraction.

Colton's Café had opened in Meckering and was a pleasant sojourn to discuss salami and double headed goannas.

More slalom riding on the Quellington Road before a run down Talbot Road and West Talbot Road to the Lakes.

Thanks to Swampy for running tail end Charlie and Wightman for being team mechanic.

Thanks Bozo for another brilliant ride into Woop Woop before the Summer heat sets in!! 8)

Congratulations to Mr. John Wightman (Esq) our esteemed Club Secretary and Mobile Mechanic for providing better then RAC Road Side Assistance (Cheaper too) .

When poor Ted's Tool Box came loose John was quickly on the scene with an assortment of spanners and promptly tightened Teds Nuts which brought a beatific smile to Ted's face for the first time in many years!!

Thanks all for the great company today!!

I love her far horizons, I love her jeweled sea.
Her beauty and her terror, the wide brown land for me."

Great job Bozo with selection and leading the ride into the Wheatbelt, before the heat of Summer hits us and also the fine demonstration of tyre puncture repair. Thank you Swampy for outstanding TEC duties again and thanks to the other riders for an enjoyable ride.
