Ride Thursday 10th Jan 2019

Post by Swampy »

There will be a ride this Thursday the 10th meeting at the Dome in Kelmscott at 0830 for a 0845 departure!!

Route and Destination decided on morning by general consensus.

Maybe Ross H won't have a better offer this week and will be able to attend?

Her beauty and her terror, the wide brown land for me."

With a forecast high of 27 degrees C it looks like a perfect day to hit the sweeping plains. 8:00am at Shell SS Brian/5?

Terrific weather greeted the 5 retiree's who managed to gather at the Dome in Kelmscott today at 0830.

Peter, David, Brian/5, Ross H and Swampy took to the hills capably led by Peter through the back blocks of Kelmscott up to Canning Mills Road to Karragullen and then onto Mundaring Weir Rd. to Mundaring where we had a minor delay at the traffic lights on Grt. Eastern Hwy where 2 lanes were closed when an eldery chap on a Gopher tried to compete with a large gravel truck for right of way and failed miserably

Peter then took us through a heap of back roads and twisty windy's onto O'Brian Rd which is a road you can't afford to lose concentration on before popping out onto Toodyay rd. where David took over the lead to show us a newly discovered scenic back road through to Toodyay.

The Coke Cafe turned on the water mist fans to cool us as the temp reached 30 c, while toasties seemed to be the order of the day with most of the group settling for ham, cheese and tomato fillings.

After lunch and with Brians Ducati refueled and with David heading for a quiet snooze under the local park tree's the four of us remaining took to the highway again traveling along Julimar Road to Bullsbrook where we had a brief break before heading for our respective homes.

Thanks again Peter and Dave for showing us some new roads which made for a very enjoyable day out with a great bunch of fellow oldie's!! :P
