With the weather forecast to turn crap on Thursday how about a Swampy Memorial ride on Wednesday, leaving Dome Mundaring at 9:00am with some leaving Shell Ascot at 8:15 to head towards Dome Mundaring? Comments welcome please.

Brian thanks for the reply, sorry you cannot make it on what promises to be a warm dry winters day. Enjoy your Thursday ride. See you late August/early September.

Wes, Steve and I met at Dome Mundaring with the temperature gauge going down to 4.5 degrees C in Darlington on the way. There was an interesting discussion covering GS speeds on gravel roads to Diesel engine life in 4WD’s. The chosen ride for this glorious Wednesday was to New Norcia.
Of course it would not be sensible to go straight there, so I lead off through Parkerville, crossed Toodyay Rd and onto O’Brien. It was noted some burnt rubber on the road, squiggled it’s way for a while before ending at a large gum tree with recent extensive scarring. Somebodies fun and games ended up being expensive! As mature sensible BMWMCCWA members we quietly motored through the numerous sweeping bends and rejoined Toodyay Rd before turning off at Fernie Rd and Salt Valley Rd to again rejoin Toodyay Rd. Sandplain, Folewood, River and Julimar Roads had us idling into Toodyay but immediately heading out (with Swampy absent working his butt off this was possible) on the Bindi Bindi to Toodyay Rd. A speed camera located in the 50 zone just prior to the 60 zone was noted and safely passed without flashing.
With the temperature now a pleasant 17 degrees C we pushed on through the green wheatbelt to Bolgart and then Calingiri. Wes was enjoying this new route for him. The smooth wide long straights of the Calingiri to New Norcia gives us all a chance to “clean the plugs”.
12:15 pm had us seated outside at the New Norcia Hotel for fish and chips and a “parmi”, washed down with Lemon,Lime and Bitters. The pleasant weather had bought out other travellers to join us. The main item of discussion was home security with a focus on cameras, Wes showing his tech. savvy with on line live viewing of his house via his cameras- cool! We agreed to all return via the GNH so we bid our farewells and returned at our own pace.
With the sun shining, green rolling hills and few cars I could not resist the Chittering Valley route.
Thanks Wes and Steve for joining me and thinking of Swampy flogging away. Thanks Steve for TEC duties.
I’m off to the UK tomorrow night so will see you early September. Keep the shiny bits upright!

The Swampy memorial run to New Norcia was a treat to behold and we will remember Swampy with fondness.

Pete, Nurzo, I'm not quite dead yet but after 10 hours of blazing sunshine and being coated with numerous layers of industrial site dust I am starting to believe I may be well on the way to oblivion.

Thankfully a couple of refreshing ales after work has refreshed me enough to be able to crawl into bed without assistance tonight

Pete, I hope you and Mei enjoy your holiday in Europe and the Heathrow Airport strike is over before it disrupts your holiday plans, especially your trip to the Isle of Man TT

Safe journey cobber!! 8)

I love her far horizons, I love her jeweled sea.
Her beauty and her terror, the wide brown land for me."
