Steve it looks like your trip seems to be a copy of ours.
About 4 of our riders have had mishaps including myself. One guy got caught behind a van that had broken down and another oncoming vehicle was trying to get past it. He had to stop and the slope was so steep his front brake wouldn’t hold the bike and it sloped back down the slope and ended up in a drain which was just short of a cliff that he thought he was going to go over. This was all on day 1. I had a off on a steep rocky decent that was a track with loose sand and gravel. The brakes and engine compression were not holding the bike and I ended up overcooking the corner at the bottom of the hill which resulted in a twisted clutch leaver and bent gear shifter. But came out of it ok myself.

Sounds like just another day at the office for an Adventure Rider.
