Thursday Ride February 27 MUNDARING DOME

Post by pspencer »

Weather forecast looks dicey, so suggest we meet at Mundaring Dome for a coffee etc to discuss options, if weather in the morning permits. So leaving Shell Ascot 7:15 to meet at Mundaring Dome for a possible 9ish departure.

I'll see you at Mundaring Dome unless it's actually raining. Judging by the last couple of days, it will be one or two heavy showers under the thunderstorm early afternoon. If we avoid that, we should be good.

Of rugged mountain ranges, of droughts and flooding rains.
I love her far horizons, I love her jeweled sea.
Her beauty and her terror, the wide brown land for me."

Sorry Swampy no heroes today but Nick, Brian and Ross and I enjoyed a damp ride to Goomalling following chatting with Steve at Mundaring Dome.
We commenced the ride along the GEH with drizzling rain and temperatures in the low twenties. Fuel top up for some at The Lakes with others donning additional wet weather gear. We took the Talbots to York then the Northam to York Rd as far as Muluckine where we headed up to Grass Valley, Jennapullin Cres, Northam to Pithara Rd ending up outside the Go Cafe in Goomalling as planned. But not all plans work out as it was closed with the owners on holiday. So we went down the road to the 391?? Cafe and Gift Shop. Food and coffees OK but not as generous servings as the Go Cafe. No rain falling as we lunched.
As soon as we saddled up again the drizzle started - funny about that! Brian lead us to Toodyay then up Racecourse Rd, Stirlingia Drive, Drummondi Drive onto Sandplain, Salt Valley and Fernie to get us onto the Toodyay Rd. Interesting way to exit Toodyay and to be remembered for finer weather.
The closer we got to Perth the drizzle turned to rain, so we followed Ross to glide past his estate and then hit the GEH for home.
Thanks guys for coming out on a wet day which was wetter than I thought it would be but the drizzle was OK until it turned to rain as we neared Perth. A good chance to test out wet weather gear. Thanks Brian for TEC duties and thanks Brian and Ross for leading us back home.

My weather forecasting is the same as when I forecast the lotto results: "Sorry, you are not a winner."
