A Solo Sunday!!

Post by Swampy »

Awake at 0530am to see the sun rise on another perfect day in Perth and staying faithful to my promise that I should attempt to remain virus free, I wheeled my bike down the road before starting it in an endeavour to retain friendly relations with my neighbours to embark on my solo ride

A fresh South Easterly was blowing off the hills making it an interesting start to my journey keeping the bike on the road but that was soon forgotten as I turned off to head up the hills on the Brookton Hwy straight into the rising sun

Luckily with little traffic on the road and having a clean visor I made it to the top unscathed before heading in a Westerly direction through Karragullen and onto Mundaring Weir rd. to Mundaring.
Crossed GEH and through Stoneville and onto Toodyay rd. where I took a left and right onto O'Brian rd before making a left onto Campersic rd. and the double woops!!

Very quiet on the roads and the air in the hills was fresh and invigorating so I had an enjoyable ride down to GNH for a brief stop at Gingers for a coffee before slabbing it up to Bullsbrook and deviating into the Chittering Valley.

Cruising through on the state limit I was nearly blown into the weeds by a group of Kamikazi pilots smoking it up on rice burners.

I was amused to catch up with them a couple of ks. down the track where the road had been ripped up and turned into a gravel patch for the next three ks.

It was my turn to pass them as they slithered all over the road in first gear trying not to fall off on the freshly watered down surface  I cruised by in third gear (Hey that's good for me!! )
Elsie messed her knickers but that's okay, she was due for a wash/rinse and polish again!!

I thought I would arrive in Toodyay to a deserted town partly due to the early hour and partly due to the virus scare!!

Very quiet when I lobbed and ordered coffee and a meal but within 15 minutes the Cola Cafe was packed to capacity with bikers coming in from every direction.

It appeared that one and all were ignoring the safe distancing recommended by the health authorities by moving tables and chairs together and were gathering in large groups as the wait staff were inundated with meal orders

I managed to somehow isolate myself as best I could and quietly and quickly finished my meal before slipping away from the hordes and back on the road!!

I took the back scenic rd. to Northam and cruised on into York before once again deviating off the main roads by taking Talbot rd. West popping out near the Lakes before slabbing down GEH. turning off for High Wycombe and Forrestfield and eventually home after clocking up around 350 ks.

Missed the lads this morning at Cat's but made up for it in spades by having an enjoyable solo ride in the country 8)

Of rugged mountain ranges, of droughts and flooding rains.
I love her far horizons, I love her jeweled sea.
Her beauty and her terror, the wide brown land for me."

Swampy, "Elsie messed her knickers ..." Thought for a moment that was the bride. More confused when you mentioned polishing her. Thank you for the ride report. Cheers, Raider of the lost iPhone
