I am in what’s your route after Kelmscott as I live more south than you lot I would like to catch up on the road instead going all the way into Perth. Quindanning on a Thursday probably won’t have many there.

I work mornings from 8-12, Monday to Thursday, so perhaps not a starter for this one, though I can make coffee for the group, if you pass through Rockingham on the way down, or on the way back. Whatever I do on Thursday, I refuse to "stay safe". I have many close friends and family members who have NEVER sent me this type of message before and I treat messages like this, from people I hardly know, with the contempt it deserves.

We will probably travel up Del Park Road at North Dandadalup too Dwellingup So we could possible meet you either or either of those places.

We may stop for a brief stop at the servo in North Dandalup for a brief regroup(with appropriate distancing being maintained) and for some who may require a refuel or to use toilet facilities!

Hello John, I am extremely sorry you are unable to join us on this ride seeing as it was you that bought it back to everyone's attention and mentioned Quindanning as a destination

And your offer of a coffee for the group as they pass through is very much appreciated!!

However I am at a loss as to what has been said on this blog that has so obviously upset you enough to make the above comment? If there has been something said that I have either said or missed reading, please let me offer my sincere apologies to you??

PS> As I mentioned before, I would be very happy to offer an alternate ride on a weekend for those not able to attend for due either work or other commitments on this Thursday.

Swampy, I hope you have a great run tomorrow and I know all of the regular ride group members will behave well because I have watched them over the years. My beef stems perhaps from a subtle cultural difference; I did not grow up in Australia, rather I have lived in a culture which despises virtue signalling purely for its own sake. If I am concerned for the well being of friends/colleagues/family, I will show it through my actions. Motorcycle riding is intrinsically dangerous and a ride such as you will do tomorrow, requires non stop vigilance. I always have faint worries when I am not on a Club Ride and always look back with relief, when I see a ride report (usually from Bozo) that everyone has returned safely. I am not going to affect any outcomes, through one liner comments to groups.

Motorcycle Riders, and the rest of the public should be wired to pick up danger, which may present itself at any juncture, maybe a roo jumping across the road, or a zonked driver weaving across the white line ahead of us. This "keep safe" expression has only recently showed up in our lexicon and I believe it means something very different, Maybe close to "Don't breathe on each other" or "stay at home and don't go out" I don't know, any ideas from the forum would be welcome. I believe the true translation is "don't breathe on me!" which is quite acceptable, provided it is clearly stated and under current conditions, quite understandable.

Some members may already be aware of my skeptisism. There are currently 42 million people living with HIV, yet nobody cares about them. It hasn't been in the news for years because its yesterday's news. The WHO has no intention of stamping it out; content to oversee the rollout of prescription drugs to keep them alive for as long as possible. In two years' time Coronavirus will be yesterday's news, too. In the future, another virus will do the rounds and many people will die. I hope it is not as bad as the H1N1 virus of 1918.( FIFTY MILLION DEAD)

So, in essence, what I'm saying is Say what you mean and mean what you say, that's the code I adhere to.

PS I am available for a ride on Sunday, so maybe we could do the run again, in reverse? Happy to play a role in the run. Leaving the same place on Sunday???

It certainly is food for thought!!

If enough people, unable to attend tomorrows run and show interest here on this forum in repeating tomorrows performance this coming Sunday 3rd of May, I will be very happy to to accommodate your suggestion and take part in and arrange another ride in honour of Paul on that day

So Folks I will leave it up to you to express your interest here if you would be interested in repeating this ride this coming Sunday, let me know so I can arrange something please?

Fantastic turnout on a fresh and rather cool Autumn morning at the Dome Cafe Car Park in Kelmscott this morning.

I requested the services of Bozo to act as ride leader and he nobly stepped up and took control of proceedings leading approx. 11 riders down through reasonably heavy traffic to Byford where we mixed it with some Fire Tenders on an emergency call heading into the hills toward Jarrahdale.

Once clear from these vehicles and and reaching Jarrahdale we headed for the lovely Serpentine Dam, through Karnett and onto the lookout overlooking the coastal plain.

We made a brief photo stop there and while I sat placidly and patiently for the group to continue it's ride Alex decided to run 3 or 4 doughnuts around poor young Elsie coating her with a fine layer of dust!!

Back on the road and down the escarpment to the SWH and it wasn't long before we pulled into the Caltex Servo where some refueling and emptying of tanks took place!

We met up with 4 more riders there and split the ride so we complied with group of 10 max. protocol.

The group then met again for a brief regroup in Dwellingup before once again splitting into two rides. It was here that Kenny left us to return home.

The Pinjarra Williams road had a fair bit of road work happening along it's length which was disappointing as one was just adapting and getting into the swings, dips and flowing bends at 110 when speed was again reduced to a crawl through yet another road work section.

Once off the main road and onto the beautiful sweeping bends and curves of the road to Quindanning it was hard to contain one's enthusiastic desire to twist the throttle to it's stop in order to make the most of that thrilling road.

It was lunch time when we all pulled into the deserted car park of the Hotel looking for sustenance hot and tasty to warm us after the rather coolish run down from Perth.

However the owners had not expected anyone and had nothing prepared but given their generous spirit and seeing the opportunity to make a fast buck they were soon taking orders and firing up the cookers for the guys!!

I had a previous well documented experience with the Quindanning caterers a few years back, so forewarned is to be fore armed and I had prepared myself for this eventuality possibly repeating itself by buying a couple of rounds of fresh sandwiches from the Caltex Servo in Dandalup.

I was soon settled comfortably into munching on my very tasty sangers and soon had attracted a very attentive stray dog who took to following around the car park looking for a tit bit!!

While I was happily scoffing my food, Digger was playing games with his drone flying it around the car park filming and recording to ensure everyone maintained appropriate distancing!

The food came eventually after a fairly substantial wait and I think everyone there appreciated the fact that the hotel owners had generously made it available for them.

The group split after lunch with the main group going one way to take a different route back to Dwellingup and with me deciding to return the same way we had come down.
Bozo made comment about me wanting him to lead the ride so if the group was stopped by the authorities he would be obliged to answer their questioning!!

However, I was the unfortunate bunny being pulled over by a Highway Patrol vehicle with blue and reds flashing about a kilometre down the road after being a little enthusiastic on the throttle.
It must have been my lucky day as they let me off with a warning and please blow in the bag sir?

They also informed me that by riding this particular road put me outside the Regional Bounderies and that if I had followed Bozo's route I would have been legal!!

However he said there was some confusion about where the bounderies actually were and I thankfully escaped another ticket!

It was a very contrite and careful motorcyclist who crawled his way back to Dwellingup but being held up by a double bogie loaded to it's limit with 4 other cars tailing behind him meant I didn't have much choice.

The group scooted back down to the coastal plain at North Dandalup where they split to make their individual ways home but where I stopped for a coffee and short chat with Bill Christie who had just refueled his beast of a 1300!!

I arrive home around 1600 after an mainly excellent day on the road with a great group of guys!!

Thank You Bozo for taking the reins and leading the ride and also to all those guys who made the time and effort to commemorate the memory German Paul Keller!! RIP
