Rattling through the Roundabouts

Post by Bozo »

A smaller than normal turn up at Catalano's but a no less enthusiastic crowd. A striking white Polaris /5 graced the line up of bikes with a clutch of RNineT's. HRG had modified his ferrule by adding a knob which made seat removal way easier. Nurzo Steve was saving his tyres for his big Australia trip timed to match the border run. GT arrived on a Honda just because it was closer to the garage door. The Ape had borrowed a bike and disappeared with two co conspirators. Brian/5 had removed the charred mess off his exhaust pipe. Good to see Prof Dist (renamed Prof Orcha Dist as he has loquat, guava, cherry and plum trees in his new yard) put in an appearance.

The magnificent weather for riding initially attracted eleven participants for an urban run along the coast with a rural return loop. Swampy, Prof Orcha Dist, Beemer Dave, Nannup Nick, His Royal Griceness, Stoy, Frank, Scotty Ross + Alida, Peter Bee and Bozo headed up the scarp to Lesmurdie and took Canning Road and Canning Mills road to get to Tonkin Highway. By Rowley Road we had lost Swampy and Prof Orcha Dist. A run west through the bottom of the developing suburb of Hammond Park for a stop at Naval Base. Taking Kwinana Beach Road we passed through Rockingham along the packed foreshore before cutting across to Shoalwater Bay.

Beemer Dave took the lead to take us to the Hilda Road lookout over Warnbro Sound. A run through heavy traffic including other packs of motorcycles got us to the Miami Bakehouse with a queue stretching out the door. Scotty Ross took us through the complexity of thruster maintenance as background to him having to regularly travel to Broome.

With Frank and Nannup Nick having departed we were down to six motorbikes for the run around the Peel Inlet and traverse across to Coolup. The group were travelling well together so there was no need to stop at the Placid Ark servo. A loop over the Murray river back to Pinjarra was taken before an energetic run through the Corio Road bends and home via Lightbody Road.

Thanks to Swampy and Peter Bee for acting as tail end Charlies and for Beemer for adding a diversion to the Warnbro Sound Lookout. Great to have new members Scotty Ross and Alida along for the Sunday Ride.
