Blowing in the Wind

A select group of riders at Catalano's today with Clayton showing everyone up by having ridden from Geraldton. Nurzo Steve was happy to be reunited with his GS that had spent a bit of a holiday in Broome. The wind was strong enough to blow coffee containers along the table but not strong enough to deter four hardy souls from a run to the Wheatbelt.

Synchronising departure time to the BOM Radar we got to Gingers relatively dry to park amongst a panoply of classic cars and their white bearded owners. Apart from a few cyclists, we had the Chittering Valley to ourselves with the strong wind providing a dry line on most of the road. Poor timing at Bindoon meant we had our own personal rain cloud that followed us on to the Bindoon-Mogumber Road. A stop at Wannamal and Mogumber for wildflowers was underwhelming before a run along Yarmindah Road and past the European Space Agency Tracking Station. Lots of wildflowers in bloom on the Great Northern Highway between New Norcia and the Dewars Pool Road. A gusty descent down the Bindoon Hill before finally having a break at the Bindoon Bakehaus. Adrian came over to chat having been to Dandaragan. A mostly dry run home but plenty of gusty wind across the exposed new sections of the Tonkin Highway.

Another great lead with mostly fine weather thanks Bozo. Also thanks for Hand Sign poster, some homework for me. So any riders going on the Nannup ride time to learn the correct hand signals.

Peter, I agree I must learn and practice the hand signals but mostly being TEC no one will notice if and when I use them Still it's a great idea and I also encourage everyone to learn the signals before the "Great Nannup Getaway Ride"

That is only three weeks away and we have 35 participants registered which is a great response for the club!!

Our thanks must go to Brian Bolton for Planning, Initiating and Leading the original ride two years ago which has steadily increased in popularity since then! Thanks Brian

Peter Bee has kindly bowed to my request to Plan the routes both there and back and also to take on the role as Ride Leader as he has an uncanny knowledge of all the highways and byways of our great South West and is also a very capable leader!!

I will take up my normal position at the rear as TEC in an effort to keep the group together and also respond to any break downs or mishaps.
I believe we will be trialling Two Way Radios between the Ride Leader and Tail End Charlie for the first time on the Nannup Trip, Once again in an effort to maintain some order and adhesion amongst the ride group!!

Unfortunately the Restaurant and terrific source of much fun and laughter which had the added the bonus of serving up some delicious meals last year has fallen victim to Covid 19 and has sadly closed it's doors

I have however taken the liberty to forewarn The Nannup Hotel to expect a large increase in it's patronage for Dinner on Saturday night and that "Mackeral Eddy" will be in attendance once again
