Thursday Ride to Toodyay
"I love a sunburnt country, a land of sweeping plains.
Of rugged mountain ranges, of droughts and flooding rains.
I love her far horizons, I love her jeweled sea.
Her beauty and her terror, the wide brown land for me."

Re: Thursday Ride to Toodyay
Brian, Swampy, Wes, Bill and Ross were the only ones for this Thursdays ride. Swampy had already posted the destination as the Toodyay Cola Café. After a coffee and the usual banter about the shutdown and the wearing of masks, there a slight delay in the departure while Ross attempted to complete some IT business over the phone. As no one came up with any other options for the route, Brian led the ride with TEC Swampy as the rear guard.
For those that are interested the path taken to Toodyay was relative unadventurous with only a few minor variations. Initially to the Brock Memorial via Stoneville, Stevens, Gill, Clifton, Kintore, Riley and Seaborne into Parkerville. For a slight change we then continuing on Riley to Brooking and Victoria. Back to the standard loop towards Hidden Valley via Falls, Gliddon, Richardson, Duncombe and onto Beacon Rd.
Rather than going all the way to Hidden Valley the GPS had an alternative route highlighted sot I took a chance and followed it. From Beacon Rd it was a right turn into Molloy, the onto McDowel Loop, Roland and Toodyay Rd into O’Brien Road. There was a short break at the Brock Memorial on Clenton Rd so that Ross could finalize his IT business.
Carried on via Berry, Reserve, Reen, Toodyay roads through Gidgegannup and then down Lilydale, Breeze, Mayo, Needham roads into Wooroloo. It was then out via Bailup and Toodyay roads to Ferne and Salt valley road. Wes sailed past us at the Ferne turnoff with Swampy in hot pursuit. As Wes had stated previously that he could not stay too long the three of us carried on. He apparently had to move on a bit further to get mobile coverage to advise us of his departure. The three of carried on meeting up with Swampy on Toodyay Rd when were turning off into Sandplain Road. Entering Toodyay via Folewood road had the advantage of missing the roadworks alongside the racecourse. Wes being delay with trying obtaining mobile cover arrived as we were settling down at our table.
After have our lunch and helping Ross get rid of his chips, we bid our farewells. Bill and I decided to go home via Julimar road with the remain returning via Toodyay Rd making it home before the rain arrive.
Thanks guys another very enjoyable day and Swampy for his role as TEC.
