Soup on Sunday

Post by Bozo »

A glorious day to ride attracted a big mob to Catalano's. Great to have Tom attend breakfast and go on the ride. Likely to be the last time we see Beemer Dave for a while as he flies out to Phuket this week to live. Rod Rocket Peter turned up on another new acquisition that looked brand new.

Nine riders headed out for a Jarrahdale-Dwellingup-Waroona ride. Tom, Rod Rocket Peter, Firey Ross, His Royal Griceness, Frank, Nannup Nick, Sophie, Peter Bee and Bozo dodged gravel, mud, potholes to take advantage of the dry roads and clear skies to shiver their way past Canning Dam and on to Albany Highway. Disaster was averted when a racy group of sports bikes filtered through the group by astute corner marking. Albany Highway was surprisingly clear giving a good run to the Jarrahdale turn off. A road closure sign on Kingsbury Drive caused brief consternation but luckily the closure commences on Monday. Traffic caused a sedate run up to a packed Dwellingup. Two of the group opted for soup instead of the compulsory baked goods resulting in the need for chip bribery. Ash Barty, Margaret Court, Evonne Goolagong Cawley and vaccinations were used as departure delaying tactics whilst the soupanistas completed their course.

A gentle run through Lane Poole was interrupted by the group being passed by an L Plated motorcyclist overtaking us on a corner. The home journey was via Coronation Road, Dowsett Road and Gibbings Road was marred by a navigation error by the ride leader. A run through Pinjarra and then to Perth on Corio Road, Hopelands Road, Lightbody Road and Kargotich Road got us to Thomas Road where the ride ended.

Thanks to Peter Bee for acting as tail end Charlie and for resolving the indecision on ride options. Thanks also to the corner markers that kept the group intact despite lots of other motorcycles being on the road and several groups filtering through us.

An excellent day with lots of humour travelling through stunning landscape.

Yes Bozo a beautiful winter day to head south on familiar roads that we hadn’t travelled on for some time. Thanks for leading and nobody really noticed that minor tiny navigation error. A great group and a ride really needed after the rainy days.

As one of the "soupanistas" I suggest have a look at the menu next time, it was good. It warmed the cockles. I know the other "soupanistas" really enjoyed her choice too...very warming.

Yes it was good to see the standard of riding in WA is being maintained by instructors that are teaching L platers. Congratulations, if those are reading this post. TAs.
