Warming up in the Woolshed

Post by Bozo »

An energetic mob at Catalano's this morning with around 30 bikes lined up but separated by hot rods.

Nine riders put their trust in Bozo that it would be warm and dry inland. DFS, Rod Rocket Peter, Nannup Nick, Sophie (AKA Mary), Frank, Paul, Terry, Peter Bee and Bozo headed out on wet roads under leaden skies to climb the scarp in search of blue skies. An uneventful run through the hills where patches of pink blossom were appearing was followed by a close encounter with a large kangaroo on Gardiner Road. A commute along Albany Highway was followed by a stop at North Bannister where Sophie and Nick headed to Dwellingup. The temperature climbed as we approached Wandering (not a common event) peaking at 16.5 degrees C as we passed through the town. The Canola crops were scarcely in flower at Wandering but in full bloom as we got closer to Narrogin. The Dryandra Forrest with its distinctive colours was a contrast to the Canola and deep green crops. At Narrogin the bakery was closed so we took Clayton Road to the Woolshed at Williams. The place was packed and the heating was going full bore as we tucked into our bakery products.

An enjoyable run via Lower Hotham Road was followed by a bit of a rinse as we headed to Dwellingup. DFS (Damaged Frame on Spectacles) looked like a pirate with only one of his tinted lenses staying put. A twisted piece of copper wire had him back to a pair of black eyes as we descended Del Park Road. A run up South West Highway and the run ended at Byford.

A great day out despite the odd sprinkle and low temperatures. Great to see a new participant (Terry) and to have such a chatty, positive group. Thanks to Peter Bee for running as tail end charlie.
