Looking at the Firing Order at Bindoon and for Fire Orchids

Post by Bozo »

A solid turn up today with stories about the Camp Cook Off and Grand Finals. A stream of colourfully dressed girls with unique make up headed into and out of the vacant shop next to Catalano's. Turns out they were going to be fairies at a festival.

12 riders and 2 pillions headed out past the airport and through the Helena Valley to Sir John Forrest National Park. Guy and the Black Bomber. Ken and the Bumblebee, Nadia and her beloved 1200RT, DFS and his Sertao, His Royal Griceness and his Royal Enfield, Rod Rocket Peter, Paul + Marissa, Terry, Nannup Nick, Just John, Peter Bee + Mei and Bozo paused at the lookout in Sir John National Park.

A run through the back of Parkerville and a regather at a car park marked out with Kegs at the Tavern was followed by a run along Roland Road to O'Brien Road and an energetic dip through the Lancewood Road woops. Leschenaultia was starting to emerge as we ran through the Chittering Valley to get to a packed Bindoon. A smaller display than in the past and in some sections it was no different to a teachers college car park. Interesting to see the old V8s with no computers and where firing order was crucial.

Five riders and two pillions added on to the ride with a loop up Crest Hill Road, along Wells Glover Road, Mogumber Road, Hay Flat Road, Great Northern Highway, Wells Glover Road and Moolabenie Road to get to the cafe at Gin Gin. Interesting wildflowers but not the fire orchids we were seeking.

An enjoyable interlude before the majority headed back to Perth via Military Road and Indian Ocean Highway.

Great day out with good company. Paul's colourful description of what to do with a marriage certificate caused some concern until he explained the migration rules.

Thanks to Peter Bee and DFS for running as tail end Charlie.

Great cloudy weather ride to see the cars of the past and the beautiful WA wildflowers. Thanks Bozo.
