Echidnas Red Tails Snakes and Bees

Post by Bozo »

A healthy turn out at Catalano's this morning with a group of eight heading south. Kim, Nannup Nick, Rainer, Multimedia Mike, Wightman, Fully Mustachioed Andrew, Peter Bee and Bozo launched into surprisingly quiet traffic to run through the Bickley Valley and a deviation down Canning Mills Road. The red tailed cockatoos were very active with a lot of debris on the roads particularly near Canning Dam.

Near Serpentine Dam the front group of riders came across a large Echidna waddling across the road but were able to give it a wide berth as well as the kangaroo near the prison. A run along Kingsbury Drive was followed by a commute along the South West Highway to Del Park Road where Kim broke off. Dwellingup was not as packed as predicted but Lane-Poole was. A snake was spotted crossing Nanga Brook Road before we stopped at the Pinjarra Bakery at Waroona (Courtesy Wightman).

Heading home on Coronation and Dowsett Roads we struck a large swarm of bees near Coolup. The large windscreen on the RT was very effective in deflecting them away from Bozo but Rainer who was immediately behind was not so lucky with a large part of the swarm hitting his jacket. A deviation on Burnside Road to Pinjarra was followed by the normal run up Corio, Hopeland and Kargotich Roads.

A great day out, with only a brief argument when the conversation got brackish. Thanks to Peter Bee for his immaculate work as tail end Charlie.
