Seven riders, slightly delayed by the mystery of a discarded handbag, set out for a loop through Carmel and a run past Churchman Brook Dam to get to Rowley Road. GS Mark, Rainer, Rod Rocket Peter, Rob, Peter Bee and Bozo tried a few variations to the ride to make it "Good-Different", a bit like ALDI's slogan. At Hope Valley we were treated to a guided tour of a test circuit with interesting corners. Stopping at the wreck of the SS Kwinana, at Kwinana Beach, a bit of history was discussed as well as the future new port.

A few towns in WA have been named after shipwrecks including Rockingham and Kwinana. The SS Kwinana broke its moorings at Careening Bay on Garden Island and washed up on the beach where her lower hull has been filled with concrete and she acts as a breakwater/jetty.
Rockingham was packed, as was the road around Safety Bay. We pushed on to the Old Mandurah Road to avoid the traffic. A good run into Mandurah before consumption of award-winning products at the Miami Bakehouse. The run around the inlet was interrupted by traffic so we took a new pathway through Park Ridge, Yalgorup Drive, Raywood Road and Bouvard Drive.
After Coolup we did a new circuit of Ridgewood Drive that was made a bit challenging with off camber corners and detritus.
As Peter Bee said "this is like an ALDI ride, familiar but good and a little bit different".
Thanks to Peter Bee for running as tail end Charlie and for the considerate corner marking by His Royal Griceness.
Perfect weather for today's ride with a great group.
