Camping at Bowe's Farm

Post by Intrepid Ken »

Ok so who's coming down to Bowe's farm , near Collie< for a camp? There are two options:-

1. Ride down to the farm Friday night the 18th of March and go touring Saturday then back to the camp for Saturday night's camp

2. Ride down Saturday afternoon camp the night and ride home the long way Sunday.

It's also my 50th so I'll supply the port :|

Re: Camping at Bowe's Farm 19/20 March

Post by toni »

Directions to Bowe's farm is below....

For those interested I am proposing a ride to my bush block in the Wellington Forrest area on the weekend of the 19/20 March 2011. The location is between the Wellington Dam and Donnybrook at the top end of the Ferguson Valley on the end of Newmans Rd which runs off South Rd. There are different ways of getting there however the last 6 km of road is gravel (if you come from Collie on Mungallup Rd 15km gravel). Time from Perth is at least 2hr20min. This is camping so you will to BYO (bedding, grog, food) everything, we have a shed and a nearly completed house, so plenty of floor space to sleep otherwise it is under the stars. There is a toilet and H&C shower, we have enough hardware for a cook up, BBQ, fridge etc. If it is hot there is a big dam to have a swim and maybe in the evening we can round up a few marron. Have Telstra mobile coverage. Hopefully the March Flies will have disappeared by then.

A bit more info I forgot, go to google earth, the farms position is 33deg, 28min, 2.52sec South, 115deg, 58min, 23.06 sec East, the block with the big dam in it at the end of Newmans Rd.

Not sure wether I will join you guys Friday PM for the ride down, I may already be there.
Be careful of the wildlife late in the day / evening.
The other thing to keep an eye on are some of the gravel roads in the area, as log trucks have been active lately and cutting the roads up, who knows by the time the weekend comes around the shire may have graded them.

With a bit of luck we should be able to catch some marron, have been getting a few recently.

Should be a bit of fun, even for the gentleman joining the wrong side of 50 club!

Got any Q's? mob 0427474870

Please add our two names to the list.
We will probably make our own way down on Saturday.

Anyone riding down early Saturday?

Leaving Friday stretches the leve pass a bit.....

Prefer to do mostly gravel but I am OK to do bitumen if the company prefers that.

Cheers

I will grab a couple of blocks and fill up the fridge to save everyone having to lug dead weight on the bikes, there is also some white wine down there for those that way inclined.

I like to join in with the rest of you. Leaving Saturday would suit. Dirt or hardtop either will do, just not soft sand. Maybe meet at Catalanos Saturday morning any one else interested?

Hi Rainer

No one else has yet joined the Saturday morning group.

I dont know the dirt all the way down there so please recommend a route. I would like to do Mornington road from Harvey to Worsley / Collie....but maybe on the way back Sunday.

On the way there, maybe head past Armadale on the Albany highway and then on dirt close to Metro rd - name like North east road? to Dwellingup.

I'll do more research.

I think Leony and I are in for the Saturday morning group. Not too fussed about the route but will be on a road bike. Bowe, are there any mozzies up in that neck of the woods?

No March flies as yet, my son has noticed a couple of mossies, I can't say I have, I think there is some HD mossie spray down there.

Ben,

If your interested in coming over to the block on the 19th March and having a beer and a few laughs, I have got a decent single bed there I can set up in the shed if that is of any use to you, sounds like there might be a few punters rocking up for the night.

Bowe, is there an actual address, or just the instructions you posted earlier?
