Looking for some advice from club members.
Your thoughts please on renewing the BMW Roadside Assistance package.
Has anyone had the unfortunate experience of having to call them out and how would you rate their worth?
PS. I am a member of the RAC.
Cheers

Roadside Assist more than paid for itself in 2005 when I had a clutch slave cylinder fail on my 1200GS at Glendambo in SA. It's the only time I ever had to use it, but I know I got about $1,600 worth of "assistance", with 1200km round trip for of recovery truck (at $1 per km because I signed the tilt tray drivers chit at the end and saw the charge out rate) and car hire while I waited in Adelaide for repairs to get done.
I used BMW roadside assistance after blowing a diff seal in Derby, they trucked the bike to Perth for the repair, it did take a lot longer than what they said it would (the recovery) but I think they were being messed around by the carrier, they did offer me a bus trip back to Perth but for other reasons I chose to fly myself back.
Steve Bly who was riding with me had the misfortune of swamping his bike in a river (Gibb River Rd) the day before my issue which resulted in some problems and we were not to keen on riding the bike any further, in this case assistance was refused because it wasn't a "warrantable breakdown".
So in a nutshell a great service but if the breakdown is caused by yourself through "bad judgement" you probably will not be covered although I have heard of tyre repairs being covered.
The moral to this story is don't try and drive your GSA through water any deeper than half a metre!! (Steve is not on his pat malone, I have also done the same thing!)
Read the fine print.
