A spontaneous decision at Catalanos had 6 Black Bears and a pillion set out on the most circuitous route to Clackline.
First DFS on his GSD led us through the hills amongst throngs of confused Ullyses riders emegring on the Brookton Highway. A whizz through Araluen and Canning Dam had us on the Albany Highway. Then to Jarradale, Serpentine Dam, Kingsbury Drive, South West Highway, Alcoa Drive, North Spur Road, Del Park Road to Dwellingup.
The motley crew were accosted by one of Dwellingup's moral protectors and asked "is the hotel closed...shouldn't you be drinking beer'' in the mistaken belief that we were lowering the tone of the Coffee Shop. cooments about Cookies wanting to remain in one piece went over Lou's head.
On to Boddington, North Bannister to a brief stop at Wandering's equivalent of the Allan Border Oval. Just out of Wandering one rider was almost the worse for wear as over 30 Caranaby Cockatoo's disturbed by DFS's "just too loud" exhaust took off a eye level across the path of another rider.
At Brookton Gav and Lou opted for a shorter route home. Lou clearly sick of the sight of Gav's camelbak and longing for a seat with a view...she even would prefer riding in a bumpy trailer.
Cookie led us on a deviation at Beverley on a great alternative to get to York. A mandatory stop at the York lookout then via Spencers Brook to Clackline to be regaled with the attributes of Oonadatta wherever dat is.
A great day out, some new roads for everyone, good company and 500 kilometres of black top with 500 metres of gravel.
Thanks to Cookie and DFS for leading the motley crew.
