Hi Guys, Back in cold wintry Perth after a great trip to the Northwest, Northern Territory, South Aust. and return over the Nullarbor.
A trip down memory lane to most places but also visited some new sights.
At this time I'm having "Old Faithful" serviced tomorrow, Hopefully getting a replacement hand brake lever fitted on Saturday and at this time looking forward to a repeat of last years Border Run.
Looking forward to a ride after approx. 8 weeks away
Swampy
"I love a sunburnt country, a land of sweeping plains.
Of rugged mountain ranges, of droughts and flooding rains.
I love her far horizons, I love her jeweled sea.
Her beauty and her terror, the wide brown land for me."
Leaving Dome @ Kalamunda at 8.30am on Thursday to be at Breakaways that night. Balladonia campsite on Friday evening after taking telegraph track. 3 BMW 1200/1150's. Certainly doable by most riders with some unsealed experience . Others welcome to join. PM me if interested.

You don't have to have a long neck...to be a goose

mmmmmmmm very very tempting, if I threw a sickie on Thursday would anyone notice .......................
I am back from sunny Qld, packed and ready for Border / Phillip Island run, I will be leaving Caltex Midvale at 6am Friday 3rd August, heading via Coolgardie, Norseman to Balladonia by around 1.30pm, then onto Camp site at start of Ninety mile straight, Black top all the way.
Friday night camp is roadside and you will need relevant gear, to be self sufficient.
Fuel is readily available - usually maximum 200km between stations - generally no need for extra fuel containers.
First day is around 950km, steady highway cruising, brief fuel / meal stops then Saturday around 550km to Border Village.
Saturday afternoon / night at Border meet fellow riders from east and west, socialising, dinner at roadhouse/ restaurant, camping onsite or rough it across the road- there is accommodation, but last time I phoned (June) they were booked out. Sunday saddle up and for Brian/5, Terry and myself, head further east, whilst most riders turn around and head west.
Riders have been coming from all over Australia to the Border run for over 35 years.
I know of 8 starters for my group and 10 - 12 making different paths on Thursday and Friday, we will meet up with them along the way.
I was just talking to a friend.
As this is my first trip to the border on the road via bitumen.
Question: What size SUDOKU Puzzle book should I take to break the boredom along the way?
Are fuel stops less than 700km between fuel stops?
How many IGA stores are there along the way?
Are you aloud to lit a fire in the middle of the road to boil water for coffee?
Ahab going by road cab.

Most problems can be solved with a suitable application of throttle!
Bitumen is a tool, to get you to the dirt.
NJ 2011
CSR 2012
DQB 2013
I suggest a 100 puzzle book there and 100 puzzle book for the return trip
Fuel available at regualr intervals to break the boredom, genrally less than 200km so you can travel very light, so light in fact that you will be airborne
Dito for IGA, but slection can be limted at some stores
Often long queues on busy weekends
lighting fires in the middle of the road does save stove fuel but also quickly attracts the attention of some very undesirable characters who insist on being very pedantic about rules and regulations and makes you way to big a target for roadtrains
Oh and you will miss the;
Slappy Sticks
Termite mounds
Single wheel ruts
Corrugations
Dust
Sand
Sand dunes etc
I suggest you turn right at Norseman and find the nearst dirt track to ward off the dreaded boredom of bitumen
Oh I forgot you are on the Green rocket so white line fever is sure to set in, suggested remedy is a long ride on a dirt track after you return to Perth to recover before the symptoms become permenant
I plan to be at Caltex Midvale by 5.30am, top up and ready to leave at 6am, stops determined by smallest fuel tank.
Looking forward to seeing you there.
