Sunday Ride to York -on the tar

Post by bmwlefty »

I am thinking about taking a ride up to York via Obrien Rd, Toodyay Rd, Clackline, Spencers Brook etc.after breakfast at Catalanos on Sunday 21st April.
Anyone interested in joining the ride?

Lefty

I was planning a similar run but involving Bailup Road, Burma Road and Coates Road to cut across to Clackline and coming from York back via Talbot.

It was all going great until after Wundowie.

One of the largest post Catalano rides left led by Lefty for the long way round to York. Felix did not anticipate the extent of the diversion through Lesmurdie and Stoneville and was short of fuel by Berry Road. Hopefully he got to Toodyay to refuel.

Immaculate corner marking, great roads and only a light sprinkle had a happy group munching pies at Bakers Hill.

Missed corner marking at Clackline had the group split up but a convoluted journey ultimately had the mob amongst the thousands of bikers in York.

Lefty thanks for leading the successful part of the trip.

Thanks Bozo, and also everyone who came along.

Felix found fuel, and caught up with Goldie in York

After missing the Spencers Brook turn off (I thought Bozo had gone on to the next track in, as there was no corner marker)
some of the group ended up in Northam, looking for the Spencers Brook, or York sign posts.
It was a bit embarrassing to be shown the way out to the York road, by our newest member from Queensland.
(Bloody Ken, he sold me a GPS that only works sometime, and not when I needed it.)

It was a good day, and hopefully everyone got back OK

Thanks

Man oh man, wasn't there some droolworthy bikes parked around York ??

I travelled up with a group of mates with an eclectic assortment of machinery, arrived about 11, had a couple of looks around, caught up with many people, some I hadn't seen for a few years.

We left about 1.30 ( after the auction ) for a medium pace ride back home, arriving about 2.30.

Been a long time since I've seen so many bikes on the road.

Bully

Fantastic range of bikes and much bigger than last year.

There was even a BMW Ratbike amongst the BMW Cafe Racers.

I came back via Talbot Road, West Talbot Road and Yarra Road....no traffic at all just a couple of huge emus. Got a bit of gravel fix by poking my nose down Qualen Road.
