Terra X chainbreaker
Anyone had any experience with the Terra X chainbreaker (latest version), looks to work OK on their video clip, compact, light etc, etc.
Re: Terra X chainbreaker
Bowe,
I have one if you want to see it 'in the flesh' (what an awkward expression that is!!!) before you buy one. I bought it because my Yamaha XT600 did not come with a shaft (design fault???).
Regards

Gday Steve,
Does it work OK, its just for fixing a break in the middle of nowhere.
Is yours the new version, ie, with the grub screw?
Shaft drive.... hm.....I dont think you would function properly if it wasn't in your DNA!!
How did the XT go on your recent trip?

Yeh, the new version with the grub screw. I did not get the matching tyre irons that go with it. I have not used it (like most bits...you take in the hope you do not have to use them). I have been meaning to go to a bike repair shop and get a spare length of chain to practice on but at this stage i just have 2 master links. I wont be at breakfast this week (going to Hyden) but will take it to breakfasts for the next couple of weeks to pass on. The XT performed well...it has given me the confidence to take it to Desert Queen Baths.

Re: Terra X chainbreaker
I haveTerra-X with the tyre irons and can test it out on the weekend if you want.
Do you have some old chain?
Just arrived about 3 weeks ago.
I have changed to using only rivet link joiners as they give about 90% strength over the clip link 70% strength of original chain.
I have also had the clip links open up on the road/trail leaving me with a shorter chain and the lack of confidence in clip links being 100% trust worthy in the middle of no where.
Used to use a Ballards but it dosent have the abilty to close the rivet as well as the Terra-X.
I use a DID rivet tool in the workshop but it is quiet a bit heavier and has the ability to rivet the link well and the Terra-X is similar except in a smaller and lighter package.
