Bozo's Revised Bakery Ratings

Post by Bozo »

A great Bakery is an important element of many travellers' journeys.

Many shops marketed as bakeries are just cafe's with a pie warmer.

My bakers dozen bakeries including a few in the metro area are:

Miami Bakehouse south of Mandurah also has outlest on the Forrest Highway and at Melville
Baker's Hill Bakery
Barretts Bread Nedlands
Bindoon Bakehaus
Dunsborough Bakery
Pinjarra Bakery at Waroona
Lawleys Bakery Beaufort Street
ChezJean Claude Rokeby Road
Fortune French Bread Shop Narrogin
Toodyay Bakery
Donnybrook Bakery
Mundaring Bakery (near Coles)
Pingelly Memory Lane Cafe

It would great to get other views.

Great topic. Something close to my heart too. The BEST, and I mean BEST pie that I have come across can be found at the French Bakery in Narrogin. Yes, it all sounds wrong doesn't it? It is so good that I am going to make a point to ride there one day (when I have my bike) just to make sure that I was not a little too generous in my praise. The one I had was a bacon and egg pie and it had a whole egg in the middle! The pie shop is perfectly placed opposite the little park with a nice and clean toilet block. What else can you ask for? Cheers, Ed

I understand the Pingelly Cafe does excellent home made pies but just missed out when the last chunky beef pie was purloined by a fellow BMW club member.

[*]I think it is time to be a bit more sophisticated about rating bakeries in WA.

My previous bakers dozen of the best bakeries left out great bakeries like Gidgegannup and failed to mention that there were two bakeries in Dunsborough.

I recommend that we use a rating scale of Platinum, Gold, Silver and Bronze for WA Bakeries for Bakery products and Coffee

To be Platinum a bakery would need to have taken out a category in the Great Australian Pie Competition in the last few years or to have won awards at the Royal Show and have an excellent range of bakery products.

For example
  • Bakery Bakery Location Bakery Products Rating Bakery Coffee Rating Awards
Miami Bakehouse Falcon and Palmyra Platinum ? Royal Show
Pinjarra Bakehouse Pinjarra and Waroona Platinum ? Royal Show and GAP
Denmark Bakery Denmark Platinum ? Royal Show and GAP
Four Seasons Patisserie Kelmscott Platinum ? GAP
Country Bakery Mount Barker Platinum ? GAP
Lawley’s Mount Lawley Platinum Gold Royal Show
    Barretts Nedlands Gold Gold
    Bakehaus Bindoon Gold Gold
Toodyay Bakery Toodyay Gold ? Royal Show
    Dunsborough Bakery Dunsborough Gold ?
    Tas’s Bakery Dunsborough Gold ?
Bakers Hill Bakery Bakers Hill Gold ?
Hansen’s Hot Bread Shop Bridgetown Gold ?
Gidgegannup Bakery and Cafe Gidgegannup Gold Gold

    Your best bakery ?

Becoming an old age biker sounds like could be Ok...pie shop testing runs, with Airheads (of course) around men with beards (only joking) & not giving a shit about work...I'm sold.
