Just a reminder that the places visited do not have to be a bona fide town.
Anywhere listed in the back of The Book as "places and geographical locations" will qualify, landmarks, rocks, wells etc.

Getting back to the Alphabet Challenge:

Sprocket and myself did a dry run of the rules by visting 13 towns and places in sequence today.

Koos you will be pleased to know that it took from 9:00am to 5:00pm and 431 km just to do the easy half of the alphabet.

The pair of inveterate punsters started the day being sent off with sirens and smoke from Cats and bounded into the challenge will several close shaves with roos at the junction of the Avon River with Woorooloo Brook.

The B was well and truly sorted by Bozo having a bee on his BMW britches at Bell's lookout at Brigadoon. Chidlow and Darlington followed with a little help from Sprocket's GPS.

An eagle and Equitus Brook (yes the actual rivulet) preceded a steak interlude at the Coca-Cola Cafe but not before the running of the bulls in Berry Road. Ok it was a single bull but still not a good look having a bull charging through the road reserve coming towards you.

Frenches Siding only had a dilapidated shed for us to pose in front of but the Grass Valley Tavern was grander. Doubling back to Harper Brook (that stunning granite studded stream whose serpentine route intersects Toodyay Road) we slithered along the gravel in Dumbarton Road to Irishtown. Jenapullin Brook was followed by the Church at Katrine Bridge. A brief bakehouse break at Bakers Hill was followed by refuelling at the Lakes. Final photo opportunity was Mundaring Weir. A few twisties to Kalamunda where the alphabetical pair became single letters to the sounds of sirens and the smell of smoke.

A brilliant days ride with occasional flashes of boredom (covering the same road multiple times). Thanks Sprocket for good company...we even ran into Swampy and Mary at Toodyay for a discussion on Karoo 3's.

Well A to M is done Narrogin and Ongerup here we come.

Well done Chris, sounds like a grand days riding. Glad you successfully dodged all the animals having a go at you. Thanks for the report too.

Yes I agree, Well done Chris and "Sprockett man", An excellent start to the Alphabet Challenge, Just hope you remember what comes next :?:

Incidently it I was suprised to bump into these "Intrepid Followers" of the Alphabet in Toodyay after Mary expressed a wish for a breath of fresh country air and I drove out to Toodyay and walking down the main street bumped into these guys just as they were dismounting their mighty GS's opposite Coca Cola cafe.

Big discussion took place over lunch partly about my disapointment at the turn out of riders Chris had for his inaugral run ....................Hopefully others will now take up the challenge :?: And of course my decision to buy Karoo 3's and their merits on and off road.

Amazing, 15 minutes after hitting the Cafe my son and his mate rocked up after challenging the Archery course just down the track. Some members may remember him taking home a trophy at the Go Kart Races last year. 8)

Terrific weather albeit a little chill and great to be out in the country, Breathing in the fresh air and enjoying the scenery, A good day 8) ........................You would have loved it Ken Butler :P

Cheers Swampy

Good ride today Chris.
A shame that not many Hombre's supported the ride Amigo.
Thanks for doing the homework and leading us through the bye ways and highways on a winters day in some glorious scenery including Christmas trees in full colour. This alphabet lark is much easier said than done.

In between the KKK (Krazy Kamikaze Kangaroo) Wild Bull (not Red), killer bees, Eagles, and deadly fierce Al Paka's the day was pretty uneventful.

Somewhere between de-ja-vu and 'ground hog day'.

However, I absolutely refuse to ride Lloyd Crossing again (for at least a week) The bystanders must have thought "those BMW wan*ers must be bloody lost, they've been past us at least four times!

Thanks again, great day.

Give credit where credit is due. The Lions deserved to win. We can bash Deans, we can bash the forwards, our woeful defence, and would oh would you believe it James and Beale having a night on the town. And of course that fecking French referee who simply adore the Anglo Saxons. Bottom line, Wallabies were just not up to it, not this time. My heart goes out to the players none other than skipper Horwill who played his heart out. This is a bitter pill for the Wallabies and as an Aussie and true to the tradition of the Aussie battler, we will come back with a vengeance. We will never lie down. We will keep faith!
