Catalano’s and then the Grand Loop around Perth.

Riverside Dr. Mitchell Freeway [K’s like freeways?], Indian Ocean Drive, Yanchep, Two Rocks [morning tea before the wind comes in], GinGin, Bindoon, Toodyay - Lunch, home through back roads, Mundaring, South to Kalamunda, Serpentine, Jarrahdale, Rockingham, Perth

All K-series bike owners, friends of BMW K's, BMW Club members and other interested persons.

1983 - 2013
In early 1983, BMW introduced a 987 cc, in-line four-cylinder, water-cooled fuel injected engine to the European market, the K100. The K series comes with a simplified and distinctive rear suspension, a single-sided swingarm.

The engine is oriented longitudinally to lower the center of gravity and allow the most efficient power transfer to the shaft drive

The K75 was introduced in 1985, powered by a 740cc inline three-cylinder engine.

The K-series offered refinements like computer-controlled fuel injection, all stainless steel exhaust, rust-free aluminum fuel tank, anti-lock brakes or ABS on later models, mono-lever in the rear and single shock absorber, adjustable headlight, high capacity 460 watt alternator, electrical accessory plug-in, and self canceling signal lights. The engine design had excellent vibration isolation with an internal counter rotating shaft

During the period 1983 to 1996, when prouction was stopped of the longitudinall engines, the following models were produced:

K1, K100, K100RS, K100RT, K75, K75C, K75S, K75RT, K1100RS, K1100LT, K1200RS, K1200LT, K1200GT.

I owned the first K100RT to be imported into the UK - loved it! Traded my R100RT for it

In total I reckon I've owned eight or nine K Series: K100RT (3), K100LT (1), K1100LT (2), K1200LT (1), K1200RS (1), K1200GT (1).

The last was the best, a last of line K1100LT Hi-Line. I'd still have now but for an inconsiderate lady driver.

I'll put it in my diary. Sounds like a good excuse for a ride. I should still have my K100RT. Now here's a trick question, can someone tell me the difference between the 1990 K100RT and the 1990 K100LT? John

I didn't know the answer but I think the padding is right. The petrol tank is the same size as the standard. It's just that the compliance badge says its an LT and the fairing is an RT.

My old K is a K1100 LT, not K100.
I have re-sealed the front forks, and re-assembled the front end.
Does someone want to take it for a long test ride , before they buy it?
I can't ride both of my K's on this ride.
Maybe DFS wants to ride a real bike again
