People attending the Christmas Dinner at Maleeya's should be aware that the "People Mover" vehicle I will be driving to this venue has a MAX. CAPACITY of 8 PEOPLE which may include the driver :?:

As their are over 30 people attending this function, Those REQUIRING transport from their Camp Ground Accomodation to Malyeeya's and return after the function ceases should be MINDFUL of SUBSTANTIAL delays occurring in ferrying people to and from.

This is due to the limited capacity of the vehicle and the distance between the Function Centre and the Perongerups Camp Ground which I believe is approx. 8 kilometres.

Those camping in other Camp Grounds will also be affected due to location and distance to be traveled.

The Driver is a volunteer and will not partake of any alcohol during the evening for your safety sake and as such will not tolerate any abuse due to any undue delays and you all are reminded it can be a long walk home on a dark night in the bush when you are on your own 8)

Cheers Swampy

33 booked now still 2 places up for grabs then that's it don't dilly dangle.

Swampy will get those that want a lift back to their campsites without any abuse or grumpiness. It will be a 5 min trip back and forth. We might do an auction to bid for first ride home. Hmmm that's a idea.

Re: Xmas dinner Perth based event? 15ht December

Well to be "different" for a Perth based event why don't we arrange to meet at a beach BBQ area - BYO everything and have a Xmas BBQ and gathering - happy to coordinate if we can lock in a dec date...? which I know will be difficult?

How about Sunday - the 15 th dec 3.30 pm onwards South Beach - cheers Ewen.... :P

The every second year city/country theme is not a club rule but has been a way in which we've tried to mix things up. The Annual Dinner being the main event that we tend to plan this way.

This years Christmas do has been discussed at the last 2 GM's and as Bill points out the country venues combine a great ride and have been well supported, as well as injecting some funds and support into our country communities. If this event gets numbers committing then it will go ahead on its own merits. If the numbers are not there we can make an alternative plan for closer to home.

However, even if the Porongorups event goes ahead I think there is still scope to organise a Perth based event for everyone and to this end we would be happy to receive your ideas. Last year we had New Years Eve at the beach which went well so all suggestions considered. Why not come along to the next meeting and contribute to the plans.

Xmas dinner bookings are fully subscribed the 2 people who have said they are going but haven't paid yet please do so. We have paid a deposit for the 35 registered participants to the restaurant.
Timings , Swampys people moving activities and routes down will be indicated soon.
If members feel like making Xmas gifts to other members during the night, we will be having a dedicated gift giving session during the night, so get the thought pattern processes going to provide some humour and interesting gifts for your fellow members.

For those that are considering traveling with Mary and me to the Perongerups in the "Swamp Mobile" on Saturday the 7th. Please be aware that I have room for 3-4 cars on my driveways available for those who wish to drive to my place by car and wish to park them here as opposed to traveling via their partners motorbike.

This would obviously permit you to carry more luggage than if traveling via motorcycle and also leave your partners to be able travel more lightly and therefore have a more enjoyable ride to the South West and return. (Maybe a bit of Dirt riding)

Please don't overly concern yourselves with security for your vehicles. We live in quiet area and you are at no more risk than in any other suburb in Perth............Contrary to what is usually publicised and what people like to think.

Hopefully this will assist you in making a decision about how you make your final travel arrangements.

Cheers Swampy

Hi to One and All,
Today I booked a People Mover Vehicle from Burswood Car Hire at the request of the Committee of the BMWMCCWA.

The reason the vehicle was hired was so that those club members attending the Christmas Dinner in the Perongerups could relax, Enjoy a few beverages at the Winery and at Papeeya's Restaurant and generally let themselves go without having to worry about transporting themselves back to their digs whilst under the influence,Thus risking losing their valuable Driving/Riding licences and/or possibly causing injury or worse to themselves or loved ones in the attempt.

Bill (fix that tooth) Burns asked me to drive the vehicle, A task to which I asceded to. Firstly because it afforded Mary and myself an opporunity to attend the Christmas Party together and secondly because it gave me a chance to repay the club in some way for the good times and rides I have enjoyed over the last couple of years.

The vehicle will be departing from my house at approx. 10AM on Saturday the 7th December. There are at present 6 seats available for anyone wishing to join us on the trip down south. (We have parking space available if you wish to leave a vehicle)

Please let me know sooner rather than at the last minute if want to come. This is an opportunity for those not wishing to ride pillion or even ride their bikes to the Perongerups.

Alternatively, If you have Camping gear or bags you don't wish to transport all the way on your bikes, This is an opportunity to drop them off with me to carry for you.
Bear in mind that it is your responsibility to transport the items to my place for delivery and to pick them up again after our return.
(Space will be dependent on passenger requirements)

Over to you guys and girls but please let me know your decisions at the earliest to permit me to plan.

ps. I will not be drinking alcohol for the duration.

Cheers Swampy

very important notice for Xmas party group
If you will be needing a lift to and from the venue to your accomodation it is very important to let either myself or Swampy know where you will be staying. Obviously this is so you will be picked up without any dramas. It is a long walk from some of the venues.
Let us know your details including a mob phone no and where you are so we can start working the logistics of picking everyone up.
Maybe list your details here or contact us personally.

Road to Porongurups 7th Dec 13

Post by Digger »

I'll be taking back roads (some sealed and some unsealed) from North Bannister to the venue. Probably leaving the metro area around 9am. The roads will genarally parallel Albany Highway for the most part so if time is against me it will be easy enough to slab it to the venue. I'll probably return via the Stirling Ranges depending on the size of the hangover.
Let me know if you want to tag along and i'll nominate a RV point. I will duplicate this thread in the Rides Index

We had a sub committee meeting at Cats with Denise, Doris JP and Bill and a a number of items were discussed. Firstly there has been a poor response to my call for people to contact me with their details where they are staying etc so we will be cancelling the people mover and people will have to walk from their digs as they obviously don't want or need a lift or are prepared to risk getting done for DUI. This is what happens when people don't respond to requests that organisers try to make happen!,,,,
Just kidding we won't be cancelling but we would like your details so Swampy isn't spending the night trying to track down where people are.
Other things discussed we felt that it would be a good idea seeing its Xmas that each participant should buy a Xmas present and bring it along to the event and Santa Claus will then be handing them out during the night to members. We decided that humerous or useful presents should be presented and not be valued more than $15. Keep in mind blokes and girls like different things. Ps I wonder who will be playing the roll of Santa. Or will it be Santa in person
We will be having an auction during the night with some great products up for grabs. Funds will go towards the "not cancelled people mover " and every one is now going to let us know their details so we can organise the logistics of moving 35 people in a multitude of locations seamlessly and without dramas.
For those riding down unless someone has a better plan meet at Cats 8am Sat morning for a 9am departure ,head South to Cranbrook turn-off those wanting dirt turn left those staying on tar keep going.
Plan for everyone once they have settled into their digs to meet at Dukes vineyard ( see map in this thread) at 5 pm (that is if you have told Swampy where you are so he can pick you up ) for wine tasting and purchasing ( Maleeyas is BYO) We will then move across to the restaurant ( walking distance from Dukes) and be seated at 7pm sharp for the meal and festivities.
Keep a eye on this thread for any change of plans and do give us your details please.
