DIRT Ride Sat 15th Feb

Post by KoosWA »

Anyone interested in a dirt ride tomorrow Saturday 15th from the either Mundaring or Welshpool Rd ext / Canning / Pickering Brook? I can't ride on Sunday after brekky, but have an itch to ride in our beautiful backyard.

I would prefer an early start 7:30 / 8:00 at either Mundaring Dome or Crystal Brook BP on Welshpool road.

Cheers

I had a great ride out in the beautiful Perth backyard on Saturday morning, unfortunately no other takers joined.

Left the Crystal Brook BP at the top of Welshpool road at 8h00, after being warned by a friendly motorist that “You’ll get hot in that”. The roads and tracks are as loose and slippery as I have ever seen them, but still awesome fun. Luckily Eeyore’s [1EOXXX] tyres still have plenty of knob left.

Did the usual Weston, single track link to Old Dale road past Darkin Ridge, then to Beraking pool, left onto Darkin rd. - one of my old favourites. Crossed over Yarra, past Topher and left on Nuytsen[?], left onto Warringal, right onto Roberts – another old favourite with lots of sandy patches. Then left onto Deefor, right onto Topher, left on Smit and immediately another left onto Stockwhip that loops back to Smit, crossed Smit to continue on Stockwhip and the steep downhill with a left at the bottom back to Firewood / Gorrie intersection.

From there a sprint back to Mundaring and onwards home.

A most enjoyable quick 180 km circuit with 110 km on dirt and back at home 11h30 with the home to home circuit taking four and a half hours…..great recreation.

Really enjoyed being back in the bush and I stopped frequently to enjoy it and take some snaps. Not a single car, truck or bike seen on the dirt! Most kangaroos and emus I have ever seen on such a loop and big mobs as well which you don’t often see out there. Nothing too close luckily.
