It captures the essence of the ride.

Lots of little interesting aspects and some mysteries ...the ride on the race course, the pannier esky, the blow fly, Bill's selfie, picking the line through the water, Jamie not letting you pass him as well as the value of a wire holding on your gear change lever.

I did not work out the logic of the gaffer tape.

Bozo, I lost one of the 2 bolts holding the screen on the day before. It would have vibrated loose. When I noticed the screen rattling, I pulled over took it off and left it under a bush as I was in a hurry to catch up with the others. On the way home I retrieved it and used the gaffer tape to fasten the screen on the side missing a bolt. It worked great and held up 1000km till I reached home. ... The moral never leave home without gaffer tape
