Just back from a visit to the Wanneroo Showgrounds for the ceremonial launch of the Australian Safari.

Amongst the record number of magnificently prepared bikes there were a few familiar faces.

Bully went one better than a nametag....he had photo ID on a lanyard...as he was part of the support crew for six bikes. Steve, Jamie, Kenny and Hillbilly were also spotted.

There was a real buzz amongst the competitors who were keen to get underway.

A shame it is the last one in WA.

Just back from a 960km day ride to see the Australian Safari prologue at Glengarry Station.

Apart from the wind and the insects it was a magic day.

Impressive event. There was a guy on a tractor baling hay metres away from the course.

Spoke to a couple of apprehensive guys in the Adventure Group who ride the course after the competitors.

How's this for a 1960 Zephyr "sponsored by Nanna"

I would liked to have been there myself but was "cooking up a storm" at Doodenanning..............Only to Fail Again :cry:

I was trying to do both.

I was all packed up with my tent and cooking gear but by the time I got to the Bindoon IGA it was getting dark and I could visualise myself getting lost between Mawson and Meckering.

My planned menu was Bruschetta followed by Pain a la Avocado. My cooking equipment was a knife and toasting fork.

That surprises me. I thought you would have made a clean sweep.

What was the problem...your potatoes too waxy, your pasta too shiny or was there an aroma of Armor All in your aoli?

Sitting in bivi in beautiful downtown Exmouth.

Unfortunately Peter is out of the event and back in Perth, a result of getting ambitions and abilities mixed up and ending with a broken ankle. He is currently in Joondalup Hospital awaiting orthpaedic doctors, he will be in the private area, I believe.

Bowe is staying with us till the end.

We are now down to 3 bikes, with 2 KTM's blowing up, bit unusual for them :lol: and Pete injured. Riders had to be back at Barradale this morning for 6am, you do the maths to work out that start time from Exmouth.

Marrinated Exmouth prawns and whole snapper on the Webber for dinner tonight, served with cous cous and leafy salad with fresh made coleslaw..........yep doing it tough.

That a bugger for Pete - but you and Bowe enjoy those prawns I'm sure you have earned them with blown up bikes and keeping the other bikes mobile

Back home at last, gotta clean up and unpack the truck.

3 bikes finished..2 of those with 100% ...great effort from the 2 riders.

Pretty knackered with the drive back from Kalbarri in the tortoise, but satisfied with a great week.

No young Josh was not one of ours.....but he and his brother both finished , the pair of them and their parents were great people.

Our 2 riders were Neil Orme and Matt Bates with 100% and Richard Carr who rejoined after spending a night in Geraldton hospital. It took a massive effort from Bowe to drive from Murchison to Geraldton to Gascoyne Junction to get Richard back into the game.
