Why I get up and go to brekky on a Sunday

Post by spacey1 »

6.20 am, Sunday, I growl at the alarm "May the fleas of a thousand camels infest your beard." Cursing still, I climb begrudgingly out of my warm cocoon.

Throw on the riding gear and suddenly my step lightens. Insert the key and fire up the trusty GSA, a smile breaks my frown. Suddenly I'm on the road. It's cool. The cloud cover is light. The sun is ponderously creeping up to the horizon.

Wondrously I think how good it is to be a motorcyclist. Freedom flowing all around me, through my veins, cylinders throbbing reliably, knowing I can ride to the far corners of the earth, today if I choose...

Peering into the distance, I can see our town, well, city now, there are 2.5 million of us here as of last month. The sun bronzing the glass skyscrapers, our city glows.

As we, my bike and I, approach our Swan river, looking east, the sun explodes colour through the silhouettes.

Switching my view west, a rainbow reaches to the heavens.

Is this some sort of spiritual plane I've merged onto? The colours of our city, the sky, the river... How did I get here?

Then finally it's onto Vic Park, reverse into the bay in front of 'Cats'. Those familiar faces keep arriving. They're all smiling too.

Funny, if you're in a BMW Club, it's cool to have a Yamaha! Well at least a short fat one with tyres off a front end loader. But there you go, that sets the scene for another question mark. Are we riding out today?

So there you have it, that'll be why I get out of bed and ride out to brekky on a Sunday morning :P

Nev

The enthusiastic prose is encouraged but how do you know that the sun is ponderously creeping up to the horizon.....you can't see it until it reaches the horizon.

Surely it is either ponderously struggling to clear its full circumference from the constraints of the horizon or its multicoulured beams give an intriguing insight to its blazing battle with the emerging day.

Sounds like the night before activities haven't worn off yet Nev or have you now opened and consumed some singing syrup :x But still very inspirational, I would have jumped out of my warm bed into the dark of dawn into the minus 2* temp if I had read this this morning :!: hmmmm!

Thanks for the critique, with your help, I'll have a book out next month

Just wanted to say, "It's great to be alive."

Note: It wasn't -2 Bill, more like +14, so no excuse :P

Per bozo: substitute the following wherever you wish, all good reasons to get out of bed 8)

"ponderously struggling to clear its full circumference from the constraints of the horizon"

"its multicoulured beams give an intriguing insight to its blazing battle with the emerging day"

Guess should be 'multi-coloured' then...
