Gear position switch GS1200

My gear position switch or neutral switch is playing up, it gives me false positions sometimes i.e second gear indicated when i'm in neutral etc, more often when it is cold, I recon it's a sticking switch, I have changed the oil but still doing it, not an issue really but a bit anoying.
Has anyone had the same problem?
I have been told there a bugger to get to, has anyone got any info, I think there located deep in at the back of the gearbox.
Any info would be good.
