XR Rated Ride

A massive turnout at Catalano's this morning with a raft of interesting bikes. Cookie was particularly pumped up preparing for desert raid.

One of the interesting bikes was Andrew's brand new XR, only picked up on Saturday, being BMW's new cross between and adventure bike and a sports bike. A bit of a contrast with Bowes Gladstone bag equipped historic tourer.

Great to see Princess Terri Anne and Nev back from Europe.

Nine riders atttempted to leave on a trip to Dwellingup and Waroona but Bolton lacking a bit of spark had to change bikes but still beat us to Dwellingup.

Nev, Beemer Dave, GS Bill, Peter, Wes, Andrew, Swampy and Bozo took the climb up the scarp and the run past Canning Dam to get to Albany Highway. Lots of other motorcycles and cyclists were out enjoying the brilliant weather. 70 motorcycles were expected at Quindanning. From Albany Highway we headed to the Bedfordale Hill and on to Byford. Taking Nettleton Road we passed around 40 motorcylces at the Jarrahdale Store before crossing Serpentine Dam. The Alcoa tunnel on Kingsbury Drive was a bit tame for Nev, not having snowploughs, cyclists or switchbacks hidden in its nether regions. A short run down South West Highway before hitting a motorcycle packed servo on Del Park Road. An enjoyable run up Del Park Road ended with a sighting of "what took you so long" Bolton on a BMW 1200R.

Beemer Dave was accosted and accoladed by old mates and Blue Wren wait staff alike as the underground miners in the group took charge of the conversation.

Andrew and Wes took a direct route home whilst the rest passed a packed Lane Poole Reserve for a run on Nanga Road.

Heading back to Pinjarra we took Paterson, Corio, Rapids, Hopeland, Punrak and Lightbody Roads to get to Mundijong Road where the group split up.

A brilliant day and great to get out and enjoy some twisties and humour.

Thanks to Swampy for running as tail end charlie.
