A solid turn out this morning at Catalano's with Swampy as the Christmas Elf doing a brisk trade. Clayton was a welcome visitor from Geraldton. Lefty was a damaged singer who should not have relied on a thong.

Seven riders headed out to play rainfall roulette on a run including Wandering, Boddington and Dwellingup. Beemer Dave, Clayton, Nannup Nick, Sophie, Firey Ross, Peter Bee and Bozo took a run to Lesmurdie and then on to Canning Dam before a run down Albany Highway to North Bannister.

Peter Bee was clearly visible as tail end Charlie in the gloom with his new club high vis vest...it just needs some horizontal black bands to match his handle. A run down a busy North Bannister Wandering Road was very enjoyable but the reason for feeling the bikes had extra power was revealed as we traversed to Crossman through a gusty 40 kph cross wind.

Navigating the still continuing roadworks on the Pinjarra Williams Road we came to a packed Dwellingup with myriads of motorcycles. Beemer Dave outlined his plans for surgery and travel that meant that this would be his last Sunday ride for the forseeable future. The discussion triggered a myriad of stories about tattoos, operations and investigations leaving one person to consider leaving his body to science. Shoulder surgery was the major topic leaving those who had functional limbs feeling a mix of guilt and relief.

Beemer Dave led us home on a convoluted route including immersing us in Duckpond Road.

Thanks to Peter Bee for acting as tail end Charlie and to Beemer Dave for leading us on a novel route home. Beemer, I hope the surgery and recovery go well and that we see you at the odd Catalano's breakfast during your recovery.

Thank you Bozo for your kind words. What a top ride today, cooler weather and bikes running nice and crispy. I will be at Catalano's when I recover, after all, Swampy will starve if I don't.
Reality of my future really hit home today be it the last Sunday club ride after 23 wonderful years with this club. The club is in good hands and has grown immensely since I joined. To all and sundry I wish you and your families a healthy, happy and safe new year. Will miss you all, take care and keep upright, I've got 1,864 curves in 600 kilometres to navigate, might see you there
